I think bless is a non-targeted (as in, you don't have to cast at a weapon) spell. That's how Cleric's can bless player's weapons without having to hold the weapon. They just cast at character, and it blesses the weapon in their right hand. If this is a "rub" activated item, it should just bless the weapon in your right hand.
