Bay Area TV stations reject marijuana legalization ad - Mercury News (http://www.mercurynews.com/topstories/ci_12771191)

Small portion of article:

Most Bay Area television stations rejected or apparently ignored a new advertisement urging Californians to reconsider legalizing and taxing marijuana as a way to help close the state's gaping budget deficit, the ad's sponsors say.

Just the ad without the article:

No matter what your view on weed is, it definitely is on the wrong narcotic schedule. California should be up for just about anything, cock-fighting, anything their state can think of if you ask me. The legality of the plant certainly doesn't dissuade people from smoking still. And especially in that state, of all places!

When you consider that cocaine, amphetamines, opium and even PCP are listed as Schedule II (able to be prescribed), while marijuana is listed as Schedule I, you do have to shake your head.

Absolutely. I don't think people who have a firm grasp on being stoned should drive, I don't think kids under 21 should smoke it and I sure as hell won't say it doesn't have it's own addictive properties. However, Xanax is much more lethal (still fun) and far more legal as are the obvious, alcohol, painkillers, and tobacco which you can find on Dad's nightstand I'm sure.

I'm not sure "cock fighting" is as good as you believe it sounds. You know THIS is cock fighting, right?
