I am new to the lands and my chosen profession is rogue. I have a few questions about hunting rogues.

1) weapons. What type of OHE weap is suited for a rogue who enjoys ambushing foes. A fast dagger or a sword with a high AS?

2) Tactics. What tactics will increase my chances of killing fast. I know how to stance dance so thats not a prob. and I defend and quickly switch to offense to att.

3) What about spells? I have seen a rogue casting spells and have no clue why. any info is much appreciated.

1) Dagger if you want to be fast, handaxe or falchion if you want to be able to hit hard and kill almost anything in one shot.

2) Ambush with a dagger and train in shadow mastery. Or be an archer

3) If you are a locksmith you will want up to 404 for the lores. Eventually many rogues get 410 for ewave, which is an incredibly valuable crowd control spell whereas rogues have great difficulty controlling crowds normally.

Rather than answer your questions, see below for my bulletproof n00b guide-

1) Reroll immediately. You're doing it wrong, and you will want the full 30 days.

2) Max out STR/AGI/DEX/LOG. Go THW with CM and Dodge.

3) Buy claidhmore for 1.2k. Pwn shit for 30 days.

4) Script fletch on XXX for the 125k+ exp.

5) Fixskill / allocate stats before 30 days are up for long term growth.

Daggers are great ambushing weapons down the line when ambush actually makes them deadly. I imagine they're pretty useless in earlier levels, though.

Most creatures have very few HPs until around 20ish. So you can hit with a dagger and kill much faster at earlier levels.

I mean... but if you have to have that extra 70 HPs of damage to feel like a real man, then it's whatever.

What he said.

I always used a longsword for ambushing and my locksmith still does.

Longswords are poor ambushing weapons because they do all 3 types of damage. Daggers aren't good for ambushing until much later on. A handaxe or falchion will be your best OHE ambushing weapon for a while.

Lucos ambushed with a falchion for many years since it hits pretty hard. Now, stiletto only.

Longswords are quickest I thought. Seems to work fine for my rogue now but my longsword is also an enhancer so that's mainly why I use it. Falchion was always the hardest-hitting and preferred ambush weapon of OHE's.

Longswords are only faster if you're encumbered or have a low AGIDEX score, i.e. when you have a RT higher than the weapon's minimum. Otherwise, the ambush RT is the same as handaxes and falchions (6 seconds).

I'd say handaxes beat falchions because of their higher DF vs. plate, though again, that's only an issue during higher levels.

Standard rule:

Handaxes: When the mob has plate
Falchions: When the mob does not have plate
Fel-Hafted Vultite Waraxes: When you don't want to switch for that shit.

ok, I get that it depends on what you are fighting. Now I have a new question. Say that I want to use two longswords, what would i need to train to be effective and would I need to 3x PF? any advice on TWC is appreciated

2x weapon, 1x (maybe 2x) dodge 1.5x TWC as a min. You probably don't need 3x PF if you're going to hide and all that (probably don't have the TPs either).

I liked the Krolvin Backslasher. But I think it was a piercing weapon. Been awhile.
