View Full Version : Hey Photoshoppers - Invisibilia

The guy who is responsible for the this quirky site, www.themanwhofellasleep.com , has been experimenting with Invisibilia, a method which allows one to photoshop a line drawing over a real photo.

So if anyone is bored, with an excess of time, patience for mindless tracing and wants to give it a try he wrote a tutorial (http://www.themanwhofellasleep.com/invisibilia_tutorial.html) that breaks it down into easy to understand steps.

Would be interesting to see a PCer photoshopper's handiwork (yes, I'm looking at you Celephais). You can see some of his work at Invisibilia (http://www.themanwhofellasleep.com/invisibilia7.html)

I'm going to try it with a family photo that we have framed on the mantel. Insert one of us as a line drawing, print, and reframe it. Wait to see how long it takes someone to notice.

That's not really something that takes skill. Anyone with average shop skills can make those pictures in a few minutes. Give me the originals and I can reproduce them in MS Paint in ten minutes. And there have been plugins to do this for a while.

No, I'm not. And I appreciate your post. I'm just saying, having worked in graphic design and printing for a while, this is not hard. Amateur really.

You said ten minutes? Ok the clock is counting NOW:

Well I'm not going to get all technical. But how about cutting out the layer of the person, tracing with something like Illustrator (or like I said, even Paint) and just placing the new layer on top? Takes minutes.

Edit: And I'm not trying to judge your respect for any type of art. We all like different things. I'm just saying this is glorified tracing.

You totally trashed the whole point. Most of us ARE amateurs. The tutorial shows an easy way to have a little fun with photos. That's all.

Asshole.

He's just jealous of the kid's position.

I'd attempt to do this in PS if I had a tablet, I imagine it's annoying to do with a mouse.

There's plenty of my art on these boards. I really don't feel like pulling it up. And, I do a lot of tracing and tracing projections, so I'm not saying it's not a valid art form. And I would never brag, I'm a loser.

Jesus, that's what I said in the OP, you moron. Why is it that there always has to be someone that just has to play the "expert" and scoff at anything that's just intended to be a bit of lighthearted and simple fun.

Damn Tisket. I wasn't calling you names, or saying I was an expert. Chill out. I was just giving my opinion that those pictures are easy to reproduce. I'm no genius. I'm sorry if I came off that way. My fault.

You patronizing schmuck. You wanted to shit on something that you view as beneath your uber skills. Good going.

I'll give it a shot once I'm all settled in, for now my non-work computer access is limited. (Shitty computer that can barely handle a web browser)

Without the thumb, your picture looks like the Left 4 Dead cover with Little Sisters as finger puppets, good stuff.
