Rogues can do this right? I was looking for one to lock a container or two. Paying... dunno much about the whole deal and all. Let me know!

Bump, does this service even exist? Before I left like a year ago, folks were greatly interested in this... I was sure it could be done to cloaks, sacks, backpacks, pouches... maybe even leg-worn containers?

Maybe I'm just imagining it, and you can only have locks added to things via a merchant... My sorcerer is hoping to make better use of Phase with all the random component crap he has to carry around.

Rogues, if anyone can do lock services on containers, let me know so I can purchase this service from you!

Yes, it exists. You'll need someone pretty far along in Lock Mastery. The following nouns can have locks added to them:

backpack, bankbook, book, case, casket, handbag, haversack, hip-satchel, kit, knapsack, manifest, pack, prayerbook, purse, register, reliquary, reticule, rucksack, satchel, songbook, sporran, tome, toolkit, and tube.

Oh huh, so no cloaks, greatcloaks, longcoats, or anything like that? Also, didn't see sack in that list either...

I never saw the point of having this done.

Other than allowing sorcerers to phase containers full of their sorcerly components to be weightless and keeping thieving mobs out of your stuff?

I never saw the point of having this done.

Having a container locked for a sorcerer allows the spell Phase (704) to make both the container and its contents weigh significantly less. So things like heavy quartz orbs can bet stocked into a container like this, the container phased, and then it is no longer weighing the sorcerer down. Only a lockable container can phase the contents within. Just closing a container will only make the container weigh less, nothing within will be "phased".

Of course, it's not terribly useful for anyone other than a sorcerer, but it beats putting your potential valuable items in a disk.

Oh. That's pretty awesome.

Seems incredibly terribly useless for rogues though.

Go buy nice gems and key blanks from my shop in Mule.

Hunting grounds with critters that loot your corpse (like OTF) will open your containers and steal shit out of it unless you double-bag or put it in a lockable container.

Also, if you use a rogue-locked container and happen to lose your key, it can be picked open by a rogue unlike most other lockable containers that use a special key. You can request any size lock from the rogue making it from -5 to their max lock.
