Putting this here, because it will be lost on the boards:
Special thanks go to Izzea and Korelys, as well as the many people who NPC'd during the festival. The festival is not over but this was an important ceremony that I wanted to share with you all.
~*~ Thandiwe ~*~
(At this point, I tried to summon the crows, by doing a tribal dance in the barrows and singing "Heerre crowie crowie crowie. Oosh oosh." That didn't work.) -- Coyoterre

Thelsia cants her head to the side for a moment as if listening to something.
Quaggle says, "Course..Wulmets would never cheats...he a good halflings."
Quaggle glances at Wulmet.
Tollyfrock grins at Quaggle.
Pulsegiver hums distractedly to herself.
Tollyfrock grins at Pulsegiver.
You say, "The ranger nearest Mother and Father have said that they are all arranged at the Trine. This ceremony takes place there, as well."
Pulsegiver leans on Tollyfrock.
Nihala smiles.
The flames glimmer, red and scarlet, orange and yellow, as they flare and climb upward above each other.
Tollyfrock nods to Nihala.
Pulsegiver gazes thoughtfully at a crackling fire burning within a steel basin on an enormous wooden table.
Nihala leans softly against Tollyfrock.
Delegates descend the ladders and all move to sit in a circle around Nihala and Thelsia. One green-robed delegates sits nearts to the females and quietly casts a spell.
Thelsia smiles at the delegate nearest her.
You say, "Rulef will pass the words for us."
Nihala nods.
Quaggle shifts his weight.
Tollyfrock nods.
You say, "If you will all please have a seat."
Crossing his legs at the ankles, Tollyfrock slowly lowers himself to the floor and sits tailor fashion.
Pulsegiver plops down to the ground in a sitting position.
Crossing his legs at the ankles, Quaggle slowly lowers himself to the floor and sits tailor fashion.
You ponder.
You say, "It is tradition that this is spoken in our tongue....."
Speaking to Tollyfrock, you ask, "Will you translate?"
Tollyfrock bows respectfully and inclines his head.
You gratefully say, "Thank you."
Pulsegiver gives Tollyfrock a quick little smooch.
Pulsegiver adopts an agreeable expression.
You slowly and deliberately empty your filled lungs.
You turn to face Nihala.
Nihala smiles at you.
Pulsegiver glances between Nihala and yourself.
You take a deep breath.
You sing softly in Halfling to Nihala:
"Mother and Father, may they guide us with wisdom,
Speak from lips in a plea to end this racial schism.
Return to us my brothers, my sisters, and cousins,
Come to us as a whole, or by the few or the dozens."
Pulsegiver scoots over next to Tollyfrock.
Pulsegiver turns an inquisitive ear towards Tollyfrock.
Crossing his legs at the ankles, Wulmet slowly lowers himself to the floor and sits tailor fashion.
Speaking slowly to Pulsegiver, Tollyfrock says, "Mother and Father, guide us in your wisdom, speak and beg to end the division."
Tollyfrock rubs his chin thoughtfully.
Speaking to Pulsegiver, Tollyfrock says, "Make one again the family, and come to us as they are able."
Tollyfrock nods to Pulsegiver.
Pulsegiver nods.
Nihala sings in Halfling to you:
"Daughter of the Truefolk, if your voice belongs to them,
Then listen in your heart and know us not condemned.
Lend your ears to our words and carry them in your heart,
Our wounds are buried deep, and so we must stay apart."
The fire crackles and flames jump. Burning embers ride upward in the shimmering air above the blaze.
Nihala sings in Halfling to you:
"Though true it is in ice that we all seem to dwell,
It is the cold that binds our pain in a comforting shell."
Speaking to Pulsegiver, Tollyfrock says, "Daughter of Truefolk, since you speak for Mother and Father, hear us and believe us not to be condemned."
Pulsegiver nods.
Quaggle shifts his weight.
Speaking to Pulsegiver, Tollyfrock says, "We live in the ice, but this protectss us from freez... not the cold protects us from the pain."
Tollyfrock nods to Pulsegiver.
You sing pleadingly in Halfling to Nihala:
"Paradis cast of the Ice in which you dwell,
And return to our hearth, of this we impel.
Reconcile thy pain and ease all of thy losses.
Return to the glades, make your glacial crosses."
Pulsegiver pulls on her crystal orb.
Speaking to Pulsegiver, Tollyfrock says, "Leave the ice, and come back to us. Let your hearts be healed, and come back home."
Tollyfrock nods to Pulsegiver.
Nihala sings in Halfling to you:
"The glades are in our heart, a shadow of our pain.
And thus we on this side of the glaciers remain."
Pulsegiver smiles at Tollyfrock.
Speaking to Pulsegiver, Tollyfrock says, "We have pain in us still, but you are in our hearts."
Tollyfrock nods to Pulsegiver.
Pulsegiver smiles.
Speaking pleadingly in Halfling to Nihala, you say, "Sisters and brothers, I implore be homeless no more.;Return to the shires, cast off the shadows of past war."
Speaking to Pulsegiver, Tollyfrock says, "Please, be not homeless, come back with us, and let go of the Demon War."
Quaggle leans on Wulmet.
Pulsegiver nods to Tollyfrock.
Delegate Temerin just arrived.
Temerin pants.
Temerin pants.
Tollyfrock bows respectfully to Temerin and inclines his head.
Folding his left arm behind his back and dipping to one knee, Temerin bows respectfully and inclines his head.
You smile.
Pulsegiver nods to Temerin in greeting.
Temerin sits down.
Nihala sings in Halfling to you:
"Mother, Father, and Daughter, your plea tugs at my heart,
But know that the Homeless will always stay gone and apart.
We carry the seed of the pains of the war, the fights, and the past,
So that you may continue in the light and be our bright contrast."
Quaggle sighs.
Speaking to Pulsegiver, Tollyfrock says, "Family of Truefolk, we wish to return, but away from yours our fires must burn....the pains of war are ours still, we wish to keep our pain away from you."
Pulsegiver nods slowly.
Nihala sings in Halfling to you:
"Keep the Shires protected and stave all our kindred from harm,
We may be Homeless but in need will hear your cry of alarm."
Temerin nods quietly.
Speaking to Pulsegiver, Tollyfrock says, "We beg you stay safe, and know that we always are brothers if need for us arises."
You sing pleadingly in Halfling to Nihala:
"Sister Nihala, now I alone plead of you, no more another's voice.
Must you proclaim the Homeless your final, single choice?"
Thelsia reaches her hand out imploringly to Nihala.
Quaggle blinks.
Speaking to Pulsegiver, Tollyfrock says, "This is me myself I speak for, and no other. Are you sure that the Paradii must stay homeless."
Nihala sings in Halfling to you:
"Sweet Thelsia, Oleani shines in thine heart and thine eyes.
And thus it is that I can assure you with not sorrow or lies.
Though we are Homeless, though we wander, and we roam.
It is our choice and our longing to never return to your home."
Pulsegiver frowns.
Quaggle buries his face in his hands.
Quaggle bursts into tears!
You close your eyes for a moment.
Quaggle sniffs.
Temerin sighs.
The flames glimmer, red and scarlet, orange and yellow, as they flare and climb upward above each other.
Nihala touches Thelsia's hand briefly.
Nihala smiles at you.
Pulsegiver seems hesitant, looking unsure of herself.
You tilt your head up.
Pulsegiver seems slightly different.
Temerin gazes at his feet and blinks away a tear.
Quaggle sniffs.
Wulmet applauds Nihala.
Quaggle scrubs his hand through his short brown hair in frustration.
Pulsegiver glances at Tollyfrock.
Speaking to Pulsegiver, Tollyfrock says, "Daughter and Thelsia, you are Oleani's chosen for sure. It is not for lack of love for you, but because we love you. We are not homeless, but choose this as our home. We will not bring our sadness to the Shire."
Tollyfrock nods to Pulsegiver.
Speaking to Pulsegiver, Tollyfrock says, "Complicated."
Tollyfrock nods to Pulsegiver.
Pulsegiver agrees with Tollyfrock.
You sing in Halfling to Nihala:
"If there is some wrong, Paradis, that we have done unto thee-
Tell me what it is so that I can purge it from your heart and history."
Nihala places a hand over her heart.
Now and again, resin in some burning wood is ignited by the flames and the fire hisses loudly. The sharp smell of the scorched resin permeates the air and invades your nostrils.
Speaking to Pulsegiver, Tollyfrock says, "What is it that we have done to keep you from wanting us to return. Tell us so that we may fix it."
Speaking to Pulsegiver, Tollyfrock says, "No, wanting to return TO us."
Tollyfrock nods to Pulsegiver.
Nihala sings in Halfling to you:
"Nay, my Mhalgava, Brughan, and Mhoragian, listen I plead.
In the lands of our ancestors our hearts would only bleed.
You have done us no wrong, no shame, no unwholesome deed.
There is nothing you owe us, an apology we do not need."
Pulsegiver nods slowly to Tollyfrock.
Quaggle sighs.
Temerin smiles sadly.
Speaking to Pulsegiver, Tollyfrock says, "Children of the Brothers, you did no wrong to us. You have nothing to apologize for."
Tollyfrock nods to Pulsegiver.
Thelsia blinks back a tear of her own.
A quirky glacier spirit fades into ethereal form and wafts away. (How appropriate!)
Nihala sings in Halfling to you:
"Think on our passage and remember we left on our own.
In leaving, we bade you to keep the traditions of our home.
Now though we have missed you, we have found these snows,
And in the freezing touch, our sadness dims and partially goes."
Tollyfrock sighs.
Tollyfrock nods.
Temerin shivers.
Pulsegiver glances between Nihala and yourself.
Quaggle sniffs.
You release a slow, low whistle.
Speaking to Pulsegiver, Tollyfrock says, "We chose leaving you. We beg you to keep our traditions so that we do not forget. We choose this cold place, and hope that our sadness and regret will slowly fade."
Pulsegiver nods to Tollyfrock.
Nihala sings in Halfling to you:
"The thaw of our passage, of our return, and our place-
Would dim all that can be accomplished in our beloved race.
So hear my words my sister, and the Trine's only Daughter,
They are ancient, I know, but you can only lead a lamb to water."
Thelsia smiles slowly, despite the tears in her eyes.
The fire sings a searing song of crackling, elemental power unleashed. In accompaniment, a vortex of hot smoke whirls off into the air with a deep-throated whoosh.
Speaking to Pulsegiver, Tollyfrock says, "I think this one needs to be litteral."
Pulsegiver turns an inquisitive ear towards Tollyfrock.
Tollyfrock recites:
"The thaw of our passage, of our return, and our place-"
Temerin discreetly rubs at his eyes.
Pulsegiver nods.
Tollyfrock recites:
"Would dim all that can be accomplished in our beloved race"
Tollyfrock recites:

Tollyfrock recites:

Tollyfrock nods to Pulsegiver.
Pulsegiver adopts an agreeable expression.
Quaggle sniffs.
Pulsegiver sighs.
Nihala places a hand gently on Thelsia's shoulder.
You tilt your head up.
Nihala sings in Halfling to you:
"If you trust the lamb to drink, it will flourish and it will grow-
I bid you forgive us, but that's how we feel here in our snow."
Speaking to Pulsegiver, Tollyfrock says, "Lambs that are trusted, will thrive. Forgive us for not leaving our homes here in the snow."
Thelsia places her hand upon the one on her shoulder. Though her eyes are sad, there is an understanding in her gaze as she turns her eyes to Nihala's face.
Pulsegiver nods to Tollyfrock.
You sing softly in Halfling to Nihala:
"And so it has passed, another year, another plea-
From your lips to their ears, it soon shall be."
Quaggle sighs.
Temerin sniffles quietly and blinks a bit too frequently.
Thelsia discreetly nods to the ranger at her side, but keeps her gaze upon Nihala.
The fire dies down a bit until it finds some fresh fuel to burn. Then the flames dance higher as they feast.
Speaking to Pulsegiver, Tollyfrock says, "Once again we have begged you to return, and once again your words are heard."
You sing in Halfling:
"But know my dear sister, and brothers, and friends-
Should the snow recede making your sorrow transcends,
That the Shires, the Mists, and the Truefolk will wait for you,
In our hearts, in our blood, you are still ours through and through."
Pulsegiver nods.
Nihala weeps softly, shedding solemn tears of mourning.
Temerin nods to you.
Quaggle agrees with you.
You hug Nihala, who wraps you in a warm embrace.
Nihala hugs you.
You sniff.
Speaking to Pulsegiver, Tollyfrock says, "Always remember, that should the snow in your hearts...the painful snow in your hearts melt, you are always welcome with us. We are family forever, sharing blood."
Temerin lays his hand on his chest over his heart, then touches his fingers to his lips before returning his hand to his lap.
Quaggle reaches down and scratches his foot, taking a moment to groom the silky hair between his toes.
Quaggle sniffs.
Tollyfrock nods.
Special thanks go to Izzea and Korelys, as well as the many people who NPC'd during the festival. The festival is not over but this was an important ceremony that I wanted to share with you all.
