Whose going to see this movie? I think this might be one of the saddest movies I'll ever watch.
I read the book and teared up quite a bit. Good actors, almost like I imagined it.

maybe if I'm depressed one rainy Sunday afternoon and there's nothing else on tv.
After House of Sand and Fog, I've avoided very depressing movies.
Dancer in the Dark with Bjork is the most all time saddest movies ever.
Do happy people watch sad movies just to feel different? Do numb people watch sad movies just to feel anything? Do sad people watch sad movies because they just enjoy feeling sad?

I dunno. I think happy/sad movies, or just emotional movies in general, are good to remind us sometimes that we're human. Sometimes we move through life on auto-pilot (I know I do), and sometimes a movie, or a news story, or a book, changes my perspective on humanity (briefly).

That movie scarred me a little bit, I think...so, so sad.

Really? I watched the trailer and it doesn't look all that sad.. It looks more like a horror film.. Like a women goes psycho and kills the people in the house.

No it's not. It's "the most all time saddest movies ever" if you're 13 years old and want people to think you're cool because you saw a Bjork movie and also think you're sensitive because you found it sad.

Life is Beautiful is considerably more sad, but Bjork isn't in it so you couldn't claim cool points from your 13 year old friends for seeing it, attention whore.

Hey now that was uncalled for! I am an attention “slut”. There is a big difference.
Haven’t seen it so I can’t agree or disagree.

Life is Beautiful is a great movie and quite sad. Even at that I think it's impossible to pick the saddest movie ever and if you were to try and narrow it down Dancer in the Dark isn't all that sad in comparison to others. The ending is more shocking than sad and the only way someone would pick that movie is if they haven't seen many movies or they just wanted to try and impress others with their choice of a somewhat obscure foreign musical featuring Bjork.

Not sure why you think that but in my case I cried like a baby after I saw it. No other movie has done that to me. It was the abject cruelty to someone so beautiful and innocent that really got to me. That shit happens and it sucks. :(

How? Cause you're gay? And you can tell who other gay people are?

There's a difference between a foreign film like Life is Beautiful where it was nationally known and won an Acadamy Award, and one that has Bjork. I had to look it up to even know what movie you were talking about. I was kinda hoping it was a horror movie seeing as how she's in it.
On topic...
Though I love the actresses and their work I will not be running to the cinema to see this one.

Isn't Life is Beautiful the one with the balls-stupid Italian comic? I work in a library and I've had to look at every movie in their collection, I hate that motherfucker. He could still be good, I guess I'm just racist against Italians who are dumb-fucks.
The most brutal, saddest movie ever is A River Runs Through It. I swear to God nothing happens at the climax except guys getting murdered for no reason and their family having to deal with it with Goddamned fly-fishing. I want to slash my wrists just thinking about the movie, Christ.
What kind of topic is this? Drisco, no offense, but I'm writing my Congressman to declare war on Canada because of this.

LOL. Just because you haven't seen it, doesn't make it obscure. It's a fairly well-known film especially since it won multiple Oscars. I mentioned it as just one movie that I thought was more sad.
I'm ragging on you because Dancer in the Dark isn't that sad so bringing it up as "the most saddest movie ever" or whatever you called it is just dumb. When I walked out of the theater after watching it I wasn't crying and neither were the other 40 people in there. I just think that saying that movie is the saddest movie ever made is just like saying, "look at me, I saw this obscure foreign musical featuring Bjork and I cried. That makes me cool AND sensitive."
I think some of the saddest movies are Disney movies like Old Yeller and Bambi.

Probably, but I don't keep up with Italian comics. It is an Italian movie and it's worth watching if you haven't seen it.
Bjork is cool? Holy shit news flash.

I cried when Old Yeller died. I think Disney movies like that are the saddest because they target kids.
I read the book My Sister's Keeper. It was sad, but a really good read. Probably won't see the movie since there are no zombies or chainsaws. A movie can't really be great without those elements.

I think it loses a lot of the effect when color was added.

I haven't seen the movie but I have read the book, but from what I read I wouldn't say it bitch slaps Old Yeller, both are pretty comparable and some of the saddest I've read/seen. My son thinks Marley and Me is the saddest but I haven't seen it yet so I can't comment on it.
But a child having to put down a loved companion has got to be one of the saddest things ever, probably one of the biggest "loss of innocence" things to happen. Although when it comes time to put down my sons dog, he is going with, although it will probably be a shot at the vets rather than a rifle or if (I hope) can arrange it to be done at home where the dog is less stressed and more comfortable.
