At 56 trains I assume the best strategy is to spell up to the nines, have healing herbs and hope for the best?
Died twice. Can't hurt these blasted creatures with my spells. I run from the Clerics and Healers. Wait for the right type of creature to show up?
This task is a pain in the arse.
Peace

Leave the arena if you get anything that casts. If you get a rogue, warrior or paladin, go defensive, rub haste imbeds and wait it out.

A weathered Grimswarm orc warmage gestures at you!
CS: +315 - TD: +246 + CvA: -8 + d100: +21 - -5 == +87
Warded off!
>
A> weathered Grimswarm orc warmage gestures and utters a phrase of magic.
>get 1 arrow from my quiver
>stance off
>fire
You remove a single wooden arrow from a bundle of wooden arrows.
>
You are now in an offensive stance.
>
You nock a wooden arrow in your recurve bow.
You fire a wooden arrow at a weathered Grimswarm orc warmage!
AS: +333 vs DS: +143 with AvD: +30 + d100 roll: +94 = +314
... and hit for 96 points of damage!
Attack punctures the eye and connects with something really vital!
[You have slain your opponent. You may now walk out of the arena to complete your task.]
The orc warmage falls to the ground and dies.
The scintillating blue light surrounding the arrow fades some.
The wooden arrow sticks in a weathered Grimswarm orc warmage's left eye!
Roundtime: 4 sec.
R>stance def
>loot
>stow right
You are now in a defensive stance.
>
You search the orc warmage.
She had a wooden arrow.
You discard the warmage's remaining useless equipment.
She didn't carry any silver.
She had nothing else of value.
A weathered Grimswarm orc warmage decays into compost.

Man, grimswarm wizards are so laughably easy compared to any other type.

I was pissed when i found out you could kill them =P.
I got a warrior with a lance and just went outside, smoked, got something to drink, etc. I woulda just killed the warmage i got first if I knew you could though =(.

It's not always *that* easy, I took three blue crystaled eye shots at my giant wizard with higher endrolls than the one posted and crit reduction didn't get me the kill.
No shame in waiting those bastards out.

But instead waiting for 5 minutes, blackening my lungs, etc. I could just also just swung at the warrior. I imagine I could have killed him in well under 5 minutes.

It doesn't look like his had wizard shield on. They're a pain if they spawn with it up. I usually wait them out, leave, or try to get them after sweeping them. Though obviously with that arena task, you don't have the same range of options. Also, you were dealing with a giant (the most crit reduction) where he had an orc (the least crit reduction).
I guess my experience is with a rogue sniper but it's applicable enough to what has been said.
