I guess technically this isn't Psinet directly related, but I know you all are so very helpful! :help:

How can I stop the download window from opening when I start this game? Can it be done just for GS and not for all of the downloads from other sites?

Thanks everyone.

Do what?

A file download starts when you try to play from the Website, but it is just a silly file that points the game to the updater, which then loads the appropriate front-end.

If you stop that file from downloading, you won't get into the game at all. You need to have the "Simutronics Game Launcher" for your computer to know what to do with that file.

You can download the launcher: https://www.play.net/software/lnchInst.exe

That will associate the filetype of the file with that program, which will shuffle you into the appropriate front-end.

I also suggest downloading the "Simutronics Game Entry" tool, which lets you log in WITHOUT going to the website. https://www.play.net/software/sg32inst.exe

I dunno if it's a Vista thing or not, but when logging into the game via play.net my downloads history pops up and has to be manually closed.

Also there is the "User account control" box that pops up, makes you confirm if you want the game to open. I haven't bothered to figure out if there is a way around that.

The problem with disabling UAC is that you actually may want it in other cases. There should be an ignore button for each executable.

I never want UAC ever. I don't know of a situation where I would.

I had forgot about that. Works very nice. Thanks for the advice.
