after using sign of darkness in RR:
[Minaret, Refuge]
Tiles on the walls, ceiling, and floor of this circular room form incredibly intricate geometric patterns which center on the large statue of a blood eagle in the middle of the room. A wide arch flanked by a pair of brass braziers leads out onto a balcony. Against the far wall, an oak-framed mirror reflects the fire from the braziers.
Obvious exits: west
>l mir
>l stat
The mirror is set in a gimbaled frame of dark oak. The face of the mirror is cloudy--although it reflects light, it does not reflect any image. Carved into each of the four sides of the frame is a riddle:
What can you see by the sun's friendly light?
And what do the moon and the stars show at night?
Search as you may, and search as you might,
The answer you seek stands before you, upright.
>
The statue, carved from a single block of the darkest onyx, depicts a larger-than-life blood eagle about to strike. The eagle's wings are spread, its feathers are extended, and its fearsome talons are prepared for a strike.
Despite the fact that the eagle is carved in onyx, there is a wildly ferocious glint in the statue's eyes that seems unnatural and menacing.
>l wings
The outstretched wings of the blood eagle statue are curved in a powerful arc, as if the giant bird is sculling air to slow its descent. The detail of the statue is so lifelike that each individual wing feather can be distinguished.
>l feathers
>
The onyx statue's tail feathers are carved in such intricate and lifelike detail that a close examination reveals the slot where one of the bird's feathers has fallen out.
>l talons
The statue's talons are extended, as if the great bird is about to seize something. The talons themselves are quite sharp. A close examination reveals a slight discoloration on the very tips of the talons.
>l eyes
>
Gazing into the statue's eyes is eerily engaging. One senses a ferocity and an almost malignant will behind the eyes, despite the fact that they are carved out of onyx.
what? Anyone know how to get out?
