View Full Version : Citizenship efficiency
There's probably a thread for this already, but I couldn't find it and I'm too lazy to keep searching.
What is the most efficient way to gain citizenship in FWI? Buy my herbs there, use the NPC locksmith, sell my stuff to their pawnshop...anything else?
Also, if I give up citizenship in a town where I already have it, become a citizen somewhere else, then drop that citizenship...do I have to start from scratch in the original town, or can I just re-apply and get it back immediately?

Don't know about the efficiency part. But changing citizenship after you get it is easy. No more extra work once you've earned it. Just clean book and write book in the new city. Just make sure you clean the book before you move.

That's good to know, thanks! In case I change my mind later :D

I made a character in January that I was trying to get FWI citizenship for (first time I tried it), for three months I sold every gem, got every box picked and sold anything at the pawn (and bought a few herbs and other items), I never got past the third rank of the citizenship messaging when asking clerk about status.
Then one day I downloaded a script (posted here) that pretty much just sat my ass in the bakery and bought a piece of banana bread every minute (and ate it), then ran over to the clerk to check every ten minutes. I got the citizenship within about half an hour.
Do the banana bread thing. (though I think based on the thread posted here with the script it does take about 6 hours of non-stop banana-bread eating, the day I did it some other guy was in there doing the same thing, so it must be somewhat effective).

That is depressing, but I believe you. Where'd you get that script? =\

It's here: http://forum.gsplayers.com/showthread.php?t=26429&highlight=citizenship
It is depressing because I'm pretty sure the design intent is for someone that uses the town's services (and therefore gets to be well known) is offered citizenship. Totally sucks that 3 months of doing all of my daily business on FWI didn't do it for me, but sitting in the bakery like a monkey eating bread was the key. I was going to post on the officials about how dumb it was but eh, why.

I agree completely. I'm still going to do the bread-monkey thing because, well, I want the citizenship, but it's kinda sad that it doesn't work the way most people think it should.

The only way I ever got citizenship from FWI, Icemule, or Vaalor was by using the bakery script for each town. I managed to get it in the Landing and Solhaven without using a script, only because I used the town services for many months (or probably even a year or more).

I could be wrong, but I thought I heard that for citizenship you had to buy lots of stuff from the NPC shops, so I don't know how much selling your gems etc. is furthering your cause. That may be why you weren't seeing much of an impact before.

This is me alright. Acquired citizenship this afternoon. Never want to see the words "banana nut bread" ever again. Got a freaking stomach ache just reading it.
Now to acquire a shop =\

The banana nut bread script works well. Took me about 7.5 hours over last night and this morning watching that dumb script.

Anyone have ideas on how to speed up the process in towns without a bakery?

Probably works for any auto-shop, just need to do something with the stuff you're buying.
Which town?

Thank you :D
And yes, I watched it, because it was painfully obvious that the three other people in there, and I, were all scripting it. Not saying anyone was AFK, necessarily, but it seems like a big bullseye for some GM to wander in and check for AFK scripters.

Yeah this method will work in almost any town shop. I know the reason I even made the script in the first place, was because the current player of Mykill was telling me how he had done it.
He had just bought like steel weapons from the weapon guy, for like 24 hours. He bought one, dropped it, bought one, dropped it.. He had a huge mess, and he bought way too much. But it worked.
I just went to the bakery since it is easier to dispose of the items you buy.
The only one I tried to use that didn't work so well for me was the locksmith shop. I am not sure if I just didn't try it long enough or what, but the cost of buying a decent lockpick that I would use was too much to go on for 8 hours. Plus I would probably run out of room in my lockers, and backpacks trying to store crap like that. Didn't break them quick enough to really need very many either.
My main concern was buying the least amount of whatever I was buying, and since I didn't want to store it, I needed an easy way to dispose of it which meant a trashcan, which wasn't usually available in a store, or being able to eat the product. And I tried to make it so I spent the least amount of coins possible. But I gave up experimenting pretty quick when I realized it was only like 30k or something to gain citizenship. Wasn't worth the effort to lessen the cost, and though I went on a few times to try and get it below the 8 hours, I don't think I ever did. I know one time I got citizenship in 6 hours on a lvl 7. But I do not recall what if anything that lvl 7 did around the town beyond running that script. I am sure I did something to get to lvl 7 that gained him some town status even if it was just running messages or selling junk.
If I were going to change the store, I would probably try and find a cleric shop that will give you backroom access at some point and sells the pure potions. Even if you do not use them yourself, at least you can resell them. Don't see any reason why it would not work like the bakery.

Cysaegir. I've gotten backroom access to everything & been selling all my crap there for a few months total with no luck, I just get the generic 'you're gaining a lot of recognition' from the clerk.
I did have citizenship in the Landing prior to that, idk if it drug down my chances of finishing it off elsewhere or not though.

that may be one your race cannot gain citizenship in - or not, krakiipedia says it is not restricted
