I learned this lesson twice before I finally stuck around for good.

On the plus side, the guy who bought him only did not hunt him hardly or do any guild work, so he was the same level when I got him back that I sold him at. So he is still pretty much all me!!!

Tell him to sell your character back. Or buy one of about the same level and see if he'll trade it.

Nah I just knew I was ready. I paid for a subscription I didn't use for probably 2 years. Every now and then I'd log in and play for a couple days then not play for months.
Made the full switch to WoW. I've now made the full switch from that to Warhammer Online. I'd sell my WoW stuff but it's not worth the time/trouble.

WAR could have been so good.
But it's not.

Yeah I doubt I'll ever sell Barachado, but I wish I had sold my support toons back when they were worth double what they are now. And my silvers...

YEah, I cancelled my GS accounts, including a 100 cleric, bard, and.....a coupla level 90 toons, empath and rogue. And my main, my level 57 cleric, who will always remain with me.
But they all still sit there, in case I ever want to go back...hmmm. Doubtful, though, I think it's been almost two years since I played.

More power to you. My opinion was shared by the 80% of people they couldn't retain from launch.
Terrible responsiveness, imbalanced classes, incomplete keep system, terrible scenario generation system, useless world pvp (in a pvp game)
I wanted to like it so bad....
Hopefully in another year they'll have it how it should have been at launch. They've addressed some of those issues, but a lot....yeah, not so much.
The thing that really broke my back was i was with the world first (discounting the germans who devs said exploited) city siege....and we we were like OMG...we shut down the order capital! now what.....and then we gained basically absolutely nothing, and the gear was awful, and a few hours later it unlocked and no one even noticed. It was depressing.

I played WAR through most of the the beta, it was actually alot more fun then for some reason. When it launched it seemed to have alot more issues and was alot less fun.
I've never sold any characters in any game I've ever played except my EQ accounts that I gave away. I find myself going back to random games to often =).

Yeah, I think I have my original Beta EQ account still, but the rest I gave away. That was the only game that was truly fun to multibox.

Wish I could sell my WoW & FFXI account but its not worth anything anymore. WAR beta wasnt very fun so I didn't try that. GS is good enough for now.

For a couple years i've had a desire to restart my eq account when they started one of the new "progression" servers where you have to beat a certain tier of encounters X amount of times before the next tier opens up.
I think trying to race through that would be fun, but i'd consider it more like beating a standard RPG than your typical MMO sign away your life for an undisclosed amount of time investment.

I wonder how many GS accounts you'd have to have running before it required multiboxing.

My and my buddy both 3boxed EQ together (both 3boxing). We could do full 6 man groups and raid content up to like the most recent expansion for years. It was fun.

What is it about GS that so many people have a hard time quitting? It's not THAT great a game.

I could run up to 6 eq accounts on 4 machines, my friend could as well so we had 12 when we wanted to mess around with raid content. Tpyically I just ran a monk/enchanter/cleric when I was farming before they nerfed monks mitigation.
I later was in the process of switching to warrior/beastlord/cleric when I quit.
never run more then 2 gs accounts though, i typically still do this on two machines so I don't have to alt-tab constantly.

I disagree. I've tried to quit a dozen times in the past 14 years and have failed miserably each time. I can manage to stay away for about six months, and then I get curious, check back in, and get hooked all over again.
I think it has more to do with the people than the game itself. If I didn't run into people I've known for 10+ years ever time I log in, it would be much easier to stay away. The longstanding bonds I've formed with people and the general noteriety and ass slapping that goes on when I walk around is just fun to me.

Yeah but arent you also playing with a whole slew of PCers/ex-gemstone players?

Same with buying back Ganalon. Only took a fixskill and its like he was never sold.

My reason is that I have a minimal time budget for games, and most of the games now require a huge continuous block of time to be involved (raids, etc.), so combine no new learning curve, already owning and playing an advanced character in an environment that changes slowly, and seeing people that I've been playing around for years makes a good combination.
