View Full Version : Dumbass kid drivers

I'm driving home from work, I'm in the right lane coming up to a 4-way intersection (w/ traffic light), I'm going straight across. This dumbass kid in front of me in the left lane decides he suddenly wants to make a right turn. Without using his signal.

The inevitable result is me plowing driver side first in the passenger side of him. Me in a Prius, him in a 4Runner. My whole front left quadrant is busted, he hardly had a scratch. Thankfully nobody was hurt, but damn. I just got my car 8 months ago.

And he tried to get me to bring my car into his "cousins" body shop and have it fixed by them, because his car is his mothers and under her insurance. I told him I'd think about it, never really intending to do it. I get home, start the claims process. He calls me a short while ago telling me he'd already ordered the parts for my Prius. I told him I'd rather go through official channels and insurance. He gets pissed, saying I told him to order the parts, that I should have called him before calling my insurance, and that I was basically screwing his mother over. Never mind the fact that the registration and insurance for his car was under HIS name, not his mothers.

The car is mostly drivable, though. The crumpled front corner sometimes rubs up against my tire when I hit potholes, though. What pisses me off is that I have a first date with a girl on Wednesday, and I'm gonna be driving up in a busted ass Prius. :(

Fuck man.

Ask her to get really drunk beforehand, maybe she won't notice you're driving a prius.

Look at this way, it will be a great conversation piece, break the ice type thing.

Rent a car.. it has to be better than to pick her up in a Prius.. no matter what condition it's in.

Right, I suppose something like this would be more up your alley?

Anything is better than a Prius imo... but I was thinking more along the lines of:

FML?

I didn't read the story but if you have a half way decent insurance company they will pay for your rental car while yours is in the shop.

Already checked, I don't have substitute vehicle coverage. I'd have to have the kids insurance pay for it, and that seems like it may be more trouble than it's worth.

Green is in. Priuses make girls put out.

Pick her up in it. Any girl who is turned off by the fact that you haven't had time to fix your car within a few days of a wreck isn't worth your time.

A cast and crutches will definately add to the sympathy sex odds.

*And make up for the negative modifier that the prius brings to the table. Well, perhaps not. Unless you're picking her up from a LARP event out in the woods.

Prius
-50 Influence
-45 Strength
-15 Dexterity
+25 Intelligence
-20 Constitution
-10 Agility
+45 Aura
+15 Logic
+10 Wisdom
+5 Discipline

Were the cops involved to determine fault or am I understanding that you guys decided to this on your own rather than involve them?

If so big mistake my friend. Unless you were hording like weed and shit in the vehicle.

This happened right near the MIT campus, and there was a campus squad car nearby that saw the whole thing. If worse comes to worst, and this punk kid tries to blame it on me, I can probably track down the campus officer.

I've already filed the insurance report, and am mailing out the crash report to the RMV and local police station today. The damage to both vehicles makes it pretty obvious what happened. And there's traffic cameras all over that neighborhood, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was caught on one of them.
