Has 125 been updated to cause certain traps to destroy boxes and their contents? Earlier today I got a gas cloud when I blew up a box, then a box that disappeared with contents when it was destroyed, and now this:

Suddenly a lightning bolt explodes from the small thundercloud and strikes a badly damaged tanik box with a brilliant flash! Wow, quite charred!
The tanik box explodes in a searing ball of fire!

That... would make a few people rather irate...

As indicated by Doug, the box was trapped. There has been no update to the code.

I use 125 on all my boxes..except enruned, mithril and glyphs. Never have I ever had one explode like that.

Perhaps you have not encountered this trap before then?

This has never been the case. See below.

I just checked into this and it's definitely working properly. It was a trapped chest with a relatively rare, but known trap.

This was not a recent addition. The trap's code hasn't been touched since Lock Mastery was released nor was that an update that would have affected Call Lightning. Call Lightning hasn't been updated since last year when there was an addition that prevented people from vaporizing worn items with the spell.

Next post is assuming it's a boomer (not incinerator) trap, which do seem to be pretty rare these days.

I've never seen that happen. Pretty damn rare.

Apparently, it was caused because that sort of trap goes off if it's in or on something.

No actual nerf here, it seems.

It is funny though that they were originally saying it WAS from a trap and it WAS intended, when it is just IMO a bug from when you blow up a box that is IN or ON something.

I picked up the phone to Kiefer Sutherland when I read the title of this thread, then after reading it all through I hung up while it was ringing.
Phew. Didn't want to have to do that.

Actually it turns out it was the other way around:

>>Hah! Having it in my disk did it, then. That's good to know. I wonder why it goes off when it's in or on something. Hrm.
Because, apparently, the original intention of Call Lightning was to have traps go off if the box had not yet been disarmed, only there was a typo in the code and it misdirected the reference unless the box was in or on something. After assessing the situation, we've decided to allow the precedent of Call Lightning working on non-glyphed, enruned or mithril boxes to be maintained and instead to simply remove the ability for traps to go off while the box is in or on another object.
Not blowing up traps is the bug...

...so it remains a feature...

...for now!

This explosion has happened to me about 3 times in as many years. It's not unique, but it's exceedingly rare.
