Ok so I scanned a bunch of pictures at a friend's house so I wouldn't have to buy a stupid cord, put them on a floppy and it worked fine there, but now I'm trying to get them off the floppy and no dice? I double clicked the 3 1/2 floppy and it says A:\ is not accessible. No ID address mark was found on the floppy disk. I don't get it! :(

The floppy disk is physically damaged. You can try and salvage it by putting it in another floppy drive and hoping that it will be able to read it.

It looks fine and I hand carried it back from that house to this one... I don't see how it could have been damaged...

I learned when bringing in presentations that floppy disks are notoriously unreliable. If you carry it on one floppy; make about 2 spare copies just incase. Some floppies just flat out refuse to function on some drives.

It's irrelevent how it looks, and the floppy could have been damaged even before you transferred files to it.
Yeah, some floppy disk drives will read a damaged one and some wont. Your best bet is to try another floppy disk drive in your house if you have one.

Ok so I'm trying it on my moms computer and it says the disk is not formatted and asks if I want to format it now.

Format results in everything being erased, just for future reference. I had the same problem several times (copying to the floppy works great, but there's no way to get the stuff off). I just gave up and used Yahoo briefcase or AIM to transfer files.

I use mine all the time. It's the easiest way to transfer scripts I write at home to the computer I play GS on at work.. same woth work to home. That way both my sister and I can use em. :D

I can't wait till the government pays me to play gemstone at my tech support job. I love it. They hire me, and if I cannot fix a problem all I need to do it transfer then to the national hotline. Do they expect me to answer ANYTHING!?
Yay, I love government and retarded administrative overhead!

Xcalibur, don't post things like this if you don't know what they'll do, please. A question was asked, and the suggestion you've given here would have erased everything on her floppy disk! Format the disk before you put data on it, not afterward.
Now, if you were TRYING to gain the result of erasing everything on her floppy, one must wonder why.........

Isnt it amazing that Xcaliber wanted help for his problem, and even complained when people posted how they felt instead of helping him.. yet when the chance comes up to help someone else the first thing he does it tell her to possibly make it worse.

I'm assuming that Xcalibur spoke from ignorance rather than from malice. I certainly HOPE that was the case. Otherwise.......

On Topic: I think the problem might lie in ..... really, wasn't he in Strange Brew?

I dunno, if I ever need to transfer small files to other computers, I'll either upload them, or just use my Ipod to transfer em.
Ahh, the powers of the USB port.

Go get yourself a 128MB thumb/flash/stick whatever you want to call it usb 2 drive. They work alot better and hell I've even had one go through a washing machine and still work, had to let it dry for about 3 days before I attempted to plug it in.
They work like a floppy or any other removable media, no software to install, just plug it in, transfer, remove.

Floppies? How quaint! If you are going to sneaker-net filles, dig up $10 and get one of these:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=51073&item=5137166 931&rd=1
Or .. for $100 - you can carry a gig on your keychain:

Seriously .. floppies are insanely prone to errors, environmental issues, and other data destructive conditions.

Eh, you need to format a floppy disk to use it.
And I know what it will do, never bought floppy disks that said "ALREADY FORMATED"?
Did.
Also, I'm not canadian and I'm americain too.
And a good way to transfer stuff is to write yourself mails, you can easily transfer 1 meg files.
