Forrest Griffin vs. Anderson Silva.

BJ Penn vs. Kenny Florian.

Fucking awesome. Discuss.

Much better follow up to 100 than I expected.

Sounds good to me. Heard the last card sucked. I was at CCF.

That is f'n awesome. Someone you know will push the action against Silva.

Also BJ Penn is probably the nastiest man in that weight class (can't remember which one and don't feel like looking them up) and is much better here than trying to compete with GSP who is clearly superior.

Kenny has been fighting amazingly lately. Not the most physically gifted athlete, but damn is he technically sound!

The undercard was mediocre. The Silva fight was so boring. No one did anything. Anything Silva pushed forward, he tried to pull guard and Silva never went for it. I think Silva also wanted to show he could go 5 rounds and not poop out. Forest Griffin will go at him hard so it should be good. Unfortunately I think this will go to the ground and Silva will dominate.

I could have called that one. No way Dana puts silva in the ring with anyone except aggressive fighters from now on.

Way more excited about KenFlo and BJ penn though. Can't wait to see BJ get his ass beat into the mat again.

You must be delusional. BJ penn is dominate at that weight class. He will out standup Kenny like BJ did against The Muscle Shark and you can't really compete with BJ's ground game. BJ Penn= easy winner

I'm actually looking forward to the Machida fight this month.

Can't wait for UFC 100, or the end of Ultimate Fighter, just so we can kick ass.

I live for the day Freak Lesnar gets schooled on what it is to be a real fighter, and not just some paper champion.

Agree with Anticor. Never liked Penn. I remember seeing him getting totally whopped in his MMA debut. He's improved a lot, but I certainly don't think he's "all that".

I have never quite understood what the problem is with a boring fight and in particular the last Silva fight, I mean, yes it's boring as shit to sit there with a bunch of people and watch that (and to chip in on the PPV for it), but isn't UFC and MMA as a whole trying to work into this being viewed as an actual sport? The commentary is full of all the technical bullshittery that Rogan can possibly think up (OSHT BUTTERFLY GUARD!), and the fights are fucking awesome whether or not someone taps out due to blood loss. I think Dana should be pushing the crowds the other way, to deal with a more technical fight, not promising excitement every main event. (I mean... it's never going to get pushed too far the wrong way--no one's ever going to be watching this with a cup of tea or anything and two people fighting each other is always going to produce awesome fucking moments).

That's said, BJ Penn is going to eat Kenny Florian's fucking babies.

Depends on the audience. The Japs loved a bit of technicality. Certain UFC fans do as well. I'd probably say people who actually know about it do appreciate stuff like passing guard etc. I know I do.

I consider myself decently educated in UFC and I really appreciate technical stand up and a well battled ground game. I enjoy watching someone set up a head kick with a bunch of outside leg kicks.

I can't appreciate someone trying to pull guard...and failing....everytime someone attacks. That is boring stuff.

Yeah agreed, I just don't know why Silva had to take so much shit about it. I love that spindly motherfucker.

Watch Fedor in someone's guard.

He is far from boring.

though oddly enough, he always LOOKS bored.

probably because he is, since everyone else sucks ass compared to him.

Jahira

I am not saying being in the guard is boring.

What is boring is watching someone failing to pull guard and continually try it. Would be like watching someone continually trying to do a single leg taken down and the other person sprawling. Sure it is a legitimate move and counter-move, but I don't want to watch a whole fight with it.

People always underestimate Kenny. BJs the best on the ground in the weight class sure, but KenFlo is no chump. Roberto Maia and the Gracie Barra Maia schools are no joke when it comes to BJJ.

I have to agree with the Lyoto folks in the thread though, that fight has more draw for me even if I really enjoy seeing BJ cry. I might have to mute that fight like I have had to mute the last few Silva fights. The booing gets old fast.

The ufc site isn't working for me for some reason. I really thought they'd tell either GSP or The Spider to change weight classes so they could fight each other at 100. Doesn't seem like that's going to happen. Another Forrest vs. Rampage fight would have been entertaining too. Those two are fun to watch.

I'm lucky I fell asleep before the last Spider fight. Was going to order it. Best $50 I've saved in months. What a boring fight that was.

My money is on Kenflo for sure. If you know anything about BJJ you know BJ Penn yes, is a freak of nature in that category but I assure you Kenny Florian's ground game is NOTHING to scoff at.

Really hoping either Griffin wins it, or Silva shows us something we've yet to see before of his very deep arsenal.

Griffin tends to be a punching bag which is why Dana likes him. You're always garanteed to have a war. He doesn't match up very well with Silva though.

Funny side story. Kimbo will be on TUF10.

Oh God not Kimbo.../fp. Let me guess he's fighting some other inane yesteryear contender - Ken Shamrock perhaps?

No, you get to see him every week on T(th) U(ltimate) F(ighter) 10. He's joining a bunch of heavy weights.

Lol. I doubt he will even make the fight into the house. Cool that they are giving him a shot to improve himself. He always said he wasn't a good fighter, and tries to learn every day. If he is anything, he isn't full of himself.

There is that Faber rematch soon, isn't there? WEC cards are pretty awesome if you take the time to watch.

Yep, with Mike Brown. Miguel Torres is fighting on that card too. I never was much of a Kimbo fan, he is training with one of the best striking fighters ever though. It usually takes a few years of training to get a good foundation in MMA. It's been about that now. I'm interested to see if he's improved over this long down time.

Nice. Happen to know the date? I'm lazy.

Who do you like for the Faber/Brown fight? My friend who is bigtime into MMA says Faber just doesn't have the tools needed to beat a man of Brown's stature. I'm torn, but honestly I don't know much about WEC fighters.

Bhuryn

June 7th. Uriah is one of the best fighters in that weight class ever. He has far more tools then Brown who's really just a good striker. Uriah will get his belt back.
