View Full Version : Sirina and the Ultimate Fail!

<edit>for the comprehension challenged note, this thread is not about Thandiwe, who is a great CE GM, this is about Sirina saying I was harassing Thandiwe (a ridiculous notion) for asking her to forward my concerns for a bug investigation or cost explanation to whomever would be the one to do that. After Thandiwe volunteered to look into it for me. I did not spam report over and over again with "Someone get down here right now or I'm making a petition!" I don't do things like that. You all should know that if I have a complaint I post it on the FORUMS. </edit>

SEND[Sirina] Virilneus, you need to stop harrassing the GM who has already told you she can't help with this issue. You can email me if you have a problem.

Oh yes, fear me. I can HARASS Gms with my questions.

Witness my harassment:

Thandiwe whispers, "Okay, I did a bit of research. The prices/fees of the scroll combiner did not change and I'm not going to be able to give you any kind of refund because it isn't a bug. However, if your scroll dropped in value, I can fix that."
>whisp thandiwe respectfully, I disagree. The highest cost on run1 was 600k, as per the GM running the merchant

You quietly whisper to Thandiwe, "I was billed 4 million for a scroll with lower level spells."

You quietly whisper to Thandiwe, "Ever person I talked to on Run 1, which is quite a few, payed less than 1 mil, and most made far nicer scrolls than I, or made multiple scrolls. I made 1, and was billed 4 m."

>Thandiwe whispers, "Unfortunately, there isn't anything I can do about that pricing. You were given the option of declining the service if you didn't like the fee."

You quietly whisper to Thandiwe, "If you can't do anything about it, at least post an explanation why run 2 people were charged 4000% more and why that is an appropriate price for the service."

You quietly whisper to Thandiwe, "And the only reason I accepted the service was that it seemed like so obvious a bug to me that I was sure I'd get a refund, as people on run1 got fixed when they had a bug."

Thandiwe whispers, "The difference between run 1 and 2 is that the run 1 bug was a decrease in the value of the scroll. Here, your issue is different and one that is not a bug. While I do appreciate your stance, I'm not in charge of this system and can't make such a post. However, I've been strongly assured that there wasn't an error in the service at all by a very good, firm and fair source."

You quietly whisper to Thandiwe, "I was strongly assured for 5 years by Romulus that first aid training made my 705 more powerful. Then Nilven took over and whoops, that never was the case. I am not hallucinating things, people like Evarin, and Rimalon, and Paul were not hallucinating when they told me what they paid."

Thandiwe whispers, "I never suggested that they were, but there is a solid formula for figuring out scroll combining and it was accurate when doing yours. It isn't a figure that was simply thrown together."

You quietly whisper to Thandiwe, "And it is sure that there is no error in that system? As sure as you were prior to the first run that it was bug free? Perhaps if the desired formula were shared I could tell you if it were accurate."

Thandiwe whispers, "I'm not at liberty to share something like that (and with all the years you've been playing you should understand that)."

You offer your cyan scroll to Thandiwe, who has 30 seconds to accept the offer. Type CANCEL to prematurely cancel the offer.

You quietly whisper to Thandiwe, "If you know what the formula is supposed to be, figure out what that scroll should cost."

Thandiwe whispers, "It's not my system and there isn't anything that I can do about it. The stance I'm taking isn't one of stubbornness, its what all of my fellow GMs will be telling you."

You quietly whisper to Thandiwe, "I'm not going to let this issue rest until there is an explanation. I'll just keep bringing it up on the boards until someone explains the price increase between runs."
You quietly whisper to Thandiwe, "So please tell whomever can check these things, to check it."

Thandiwe whispers, "I will pass that on, I assure you."

I was harassing Thandiwe? a person who could have poofed and ended our conversation at any time. Holy fucking shit batman, what is wrong with Simutronic's employees?

Next Emeradan will start removing posts on the boards "Sorry, you asked a question of a GM, that is harassment. You now have 14 tacs, 6 warns, 8 wobble-wobble, and 23 bingbings on your account."

Baseball analogy time!

If I was the PM (manager of the club, Sirina), and my rag-arm rookie with a nasty curve (Thandiwe) got into a scuffle with the most notorious crackpot umpire in the minor leagues (V) I'd sure as hell get my body between them just to show the squad I had their backs. Thandiwe definitely saw the SEND and knew that she was being looked out for. That's Sirina's job.

Nice job to Thandiwe here... it must've been hard to stay that completely measured when someone was telling you they understood the price of a service but had purposefully paid it because they were cerrtain (without asking anyone) that they would be given a discount after the fact.

"And the only reason I accepted the service was that it seemed like so obvious a bug to me that I was sure I'd get a refund, as people on run1 got fixed when they had a bug."

So you accepted the service because you made some assumptions. When those assumptions turned out to be false you pitch a bitch. Am I missing something?

This is one of those times where someone has a valid complaint...i mean, if the numbers he has are correct, and it looks like they are. Not to mention that while no one will argue that V does more than his fair share of pissing and moaning, and sometimes he might see things differently than the average person (i.e. anything less than 100% dev time focused on dwarven master blacksmith sorcerers is a waste of time) he doesn't lie. It does seem strange that there was a sudden massive jump in cost between the runs.

It's a bit ridiculous they can't provide the formula they use either. I understand that stance on things like enchanting and combat mechanics, things of that nature, but this is not at all one of those things that needs to remain behind the scenes.

Basically it's one of those boys who cried wolf things.

Operative word being CRIED, as hes done a LOT of that in the past.

Also, the boy can be a douchebag.

Well, I was there when Virelness (AKA Asshole, Thief, Mechanics Abuser) got the service done. I agree the cost was rather high, BUT he paid it instantly without blinking an eye. Didn't seem like he put much thought into the process because he handed over payment almost instantly. I then went and got 6 scrollls, three with Raise Dead and three with WoL, combined for 600K.

If I had been quoted 3m for the service, I woulda said "Piss Off" instead of paying and then gunning for a referral discount.

Donquix
04-28-2009, 01:58 PM
I have just received inside information that the last part of the mysterious scroll cost formula is "* [x*2 + y*3]"

Where x is the number of pulled posts you have on the officials, and 3 is the amount of face palms you have caused in the last week. So that explains the discrepancy.

Even if he is right that the service price jumped isn't this just a waste of fucking time? Wasn't him engaging Oscuro in a masturbatory seance to resurrect the sandess of 1998 Sorc spells on the officials last week just a waste of time?

I think RheisIa recently posted about how much waste little annoying fuckers create for Hosts and by extension GMs, and I'm not saying Virilneus is cybering and then killing some dude that hits the FLIRT button on his inn-ho like was described, but damn... I was blown away when he pretty much told Thandiwe he was going to complain about this so much and use so much of their time up on this issue that she should just fix it for him.

Thandiwe is an awesome GM and I have no problems with her. Note the thread title.

My problem is this

I agree Sirina's words were poorly chosen.

To accuse me of harassing a GM merely for asking questions about a broken game system. I wasn't even being mean. I said please, I said with all due respect. And she said I was harassing her.

By the way, for the peons keeping score, Sirina came by 20 minutes later, said she was looking into it, and had me explain how scrolls worked because she had never used the system. It IS a bug.

Half the forum? You can probably count on one hand in the entire GS community the people who even remotely like you.

At the end of the day you're just a douche on a power-trip. I'm glad you most likely will never have a job that will impact on any kind of important RL situation. I mean God, I used to think Drizzsdt was full of himself. He didn't pollute everywhere with his bullshit at least. He also knew how to keep IG and OOG seperate. You, and people like you, are what took a fantastic, colourful and imaginative roleplaying game, and made it totally banal, irritating and crap rollplaying calculator.

His posting style is just a bit angst filled which tends to overshadow the content of his posts.

I'm glad to see it was a bug in this case, mainly because it's always amusing to see someone at Simu insist that something's working properly when it really isn't and then be like "OOPS SRY".

No, nothing's happened beyond Virilneus going on and on that it has to be a bug. Just the opposite: so far GMs have said that it is not a bug.

Not to mention the GM in question didn't know how the hell the box worked in the first place, and that it incorrectly nuked the value/charges of the scroll. I believe they realized the amount of crazy ass spells that were becoming unlocked, and decided to stick some massive surcharges on the service to discourage casual use. That wouldn't be a bug, though.

Actually Sirina did to me. I also by the play explained to her in detail how scrolls worked (she didn't know, not that I expect her to know, she isn't a sorcerer). She also said the box predates gs4, predates scroll infusion. Its old code, and it is messing things up.

For instance it fucked my scroll to the point where I was able to unlock 304 for 7 maximum charges, which isn't supposed to be possible.

Hey, honestly Virilneus--I love your fucking site. I actually read it at least once a week. I even love the crazy drawing of the dwarven sorc that you can't make go away cause it's fixed even though the rest of the site scrolls (this, sadly, keeps me from reading it at work).

Room Data and Alchemy Recipes are both so entirely handy. I use them and I feel good.

But sometimes you really don't read things all the way through--or you post without thinking or knowing something, like the night Nexus was updated and within a second you blew up the cleric board to the point that any of the 10 clerics who had tested it (and the GMs who had updated it) that night all knew you obviously had absolutely no fucking clue what the spell did (with your further posting on 325 since I'm pretty sure you're unaware of what the spell does in any fashion).

And it sucks, because then I have to go back and reevaluate all the agreeing I've ever done with anything you posted on your site or on the boards, and think to myself, 'osht--did he ever know what he was talking about??'

But you're not like the worst dude on Earth or anything, but sometimes you pull the trigger a bit fast, huh?

She said they're going to try to figure out what the appropriate value should have been, but the item does not log it's work so they have to guess and if they can't guess what they'll probably do is just do a percentage based refund.

It seems to me, based on what others paid the square root or 2xthe square root would be a fair cost.

no, bob is right, my math was wrong. (see, I can admit it when I'm wrong). The square root wouldn't be appropriate, that'd be far too much a refund.

The wrong sorcerers left.

Yeah, I wish we could have a "GS Sorcerer Draft". I'll trade Virilneus leaving for the four sorcerers that just left to come back.

Ya ya ya I "cry" alot boo hoo, and we don't get things like a new lightening system or the analying verb or salt shakers or more charges on alchemy items because I'm crying and taking up GM time asking for changes that benefit only me...

wait what? Analyze information, lightening merchants and something to do with salt shakers are all stuff you created? seriously?

If you didn't get the memo, Virilneus saved Gemstone.. so essentially everything about Gemstone is because of Virilneus.

Maybe you should thank him instead of being such a doubter.

So, here's an idea...

if you have to make a batch of responses to an entire message board community (minus Methais :)) defending yourself from ad hominem attacks...perhaps you should not worry so much about critiquing their debate style and focus more on not being such a wanker.

Just thinking outloud here, do whatever.

I'm not a GM.

The analyze change was my idea. I posted it, Oscuro said good idea, the next day it was done. You can even find a post of his on the boards saying it was my idea if it is really that important to you to go look.

The lightening system change was done after an EG or Anfelt where Tsin got some waraxe shop-around-lightened to like 1 pound. I complained, I said it was stupid to make the system unstandardized where only specially trained GMs were allowed to lighten and have there be such inconsistency where you could shop around to different GMs to maybe get exceptional gear when other players were told no to further lightening. I said they should standardize it to eliminate this merchant abuse, but also so more GMs could then offer lightening services. A few weeks later, it was done.

And you really think that, as one of the first alchemy masters, I never said anything about the component load, and do you really think that, despite being one of the few animating sorcerers, I never said anything about salt storage? I proposed an item to shake salt on corpses like the day after AD was released. Surely if you know anything you know I'll propose new systems for things I think need improvement, you call it QQing, I call it being an activist player, but we can all admit I do it aye? Is it so hard to believe sometimes I'd get listened to?

You may not like me, you may think I'm a giant jackass. But don't be retarded.

Kind of amazing how the analyze change is somehow your idea despite being brought up early and often. A number of people mentioned it at the first CCF run right before the change was rolled in as well.

But hey, of course it was all you.

Exactly. People have suggested it numerous times before.

When the normal person sees what is obviously a common sense, consensus change happen...even if their post was the one that a GM finally noticed...they think "Finally, they listen to us"

V thinks, "LOOK WHAT I HAVE WROUGHT UPON THY, MY ADORING PUBLIC! GO! ENJOY THE FRUITS OF MY LABOR....ALSO, BUY MY ARMOR AND WEAPONS"

Why do you gotta be such a bitch? Seriously.

I've posted it more than one time over the years too. I've never seen anyone else post it, other than to agree with me. But whatever. Oscuro implemented after I posted it. He credited it as my idea afterwards. The question is not really if anyone else had ever had that idea. The question is has my posting on the officials ever contributed to a postive game change, something someone accused me of never doing. And it isn't as if thats the only proposal of mine that has even been implemented. I've played for 15 years and post ideas all the time. There are probably a couple dozen that made it to implementation. Fuck, I even had two winning entries to the contest last winter for designing an auction item, and those were blind voted on by GMs.

The way some of you PC people obsess over me is a little disturbing. I could post a thread saying my cat had kittens and you'd all say "gah stop QQing already, you don't contribute anything to the game, blah blah blah."

I gotta be pretty amazing to illicit such a response from you losers. Thanks for pumping my ego.

Like I said, call me a jackass, but don't be a retard and lie or make shit up, or ignore obvious things. That just makes you look like a jackass.

so jackass the original idea of say, having limbs blown off with 708 animate based on the necromancy skill of the caster, which no one has ever posted except for me, wasn't my idea?

Stop being retarded. Any GM will admit that many of the ideas for new systems spells or tools come from players, quite a few of them have said that recently. Is it so hard to believe I might be one of them?

Oh right, I forgot, I ran over your dog, and you're sworn to hate me and post ad hominem attacks whenever I post anything.

I might be a jackass who posts harshly towards Simu, but I don't go into other threads to insult the thread poster and add nothing to any relevant topic.

Since we're taking credit for stuff, I suggested the "Exp. til next TP" line on the EXP screen to feedback, they responded and said "Hey that's a good idea we'll look into implementing that!!!!!!!11" and within a week or two it came out.

I also take credit for the nerfs to Charge Item and Mana Leech, which is not a good thing :(

You can also blame me for the "hole" in the treehouse being sealed up, due to me and Lasheric bombarding TSC with 4728349072 things of Paupers cheese from the treehouse one night, which apparently all the fat empaths bitched about and the GMs "fixed" it the next day.
