View Full Version : Greater Vruul Mishap (real stupid)

So I was thinking.. is there a faster way to leave the broken lands? Well let's try a temporal rift (same thing that happens by setting off a glyph trap).
I end up being rifted to like 13 greater vruuls. Bound, Silenced, Something like distraction and no obvious escapes. LOL I survived. If you think it's funny leave a comment.

[The Broken Lands, Chamber]
A damp mist seems to seep from the very walls of this vast chamber, casting the walls in an eerie green pallor. A large, round stone stands upright in the center of the room, rotating like a coin that has been stood on edge and spun. The opening at the center of the stone is pitch black and odd runes are engraved around the edge. A low, steady hum emanates from the stone and the sound soothes your tired nerves.

temporal rift drop points seem to be hard set. If iindeed this is the case this could be a trick to gain access to that room without having to pick the door, assuming you are not a rogue. Thus giving you access to that room for enchanting (if we ever needed mana pools again, I used to have enchanting parties in there. infuse and get exp at the same time) and of course for hunting the relatively weak vruul.

of course being a wizard your abilities to hunt a vruul are limited.

There are plenty of workshops that are 100x's less dangerous. Greater vruuls are level 75.

What makes you think I didn't know mana pools weren't used anymore? Did you think I posted the opposite of what I believed?



There are plenty of workshops that are 100x's less dangerous.

Which are fought over and drained. The mana pool system has charges whereby a pool can accumulate mana over time by itself with no infusing. The out of the way workshops (And private ones) do this. If you can walk in and do a 10x enchant (in the old system) the workshop has value.



Greater vruuls are level 75.

No kidding, I was there when they were released and was the first person to map the Sheru monastery. They're relatively weak because they're relatively weak. They're the roltons of level 75. In fact, they're so weak, that they were once added to the lesser vruul area, only to be removed because they were too easy. The specific reason Warden (or was it Banthis..) gave was they were tired of vacuuming up dead vruul. They're big dumb non-BCS critters.

mana pools will never be used for enchanting ever again. It'd undermine every change made to the enchanting system thus far to bring them back.

Unfortunately I lost all my logs prior to 2000. Which sucks cause I had a few real good ones. Like creating the first vvrael invasion of the landing.

During the whole vvrael saga the vvrael had invaded icemule as I recall but not yet the landing. Some GM must have just been waiting for a sorcerer to open implode, or open implode and kill someone, and that was me. I was hunting in the sheruvian monastery not in the summoning chamber, but the other one, getting it swarmy with the older critters I could learn better from, then open imploding. I would always close the door first. Alas, because of the lag, someone was able to open the door and walk in from the time when I cast the spell to when the game received my command. So they died, and then an army of vvrael poured out of my rift. I cast once, failed miserably, and ran like crazy. I got to the room just outside of the entrance and was slain by a witch.

So, I'm sitting at the entrance to the monastery, for awhile, watching everyone who walks in get murdered, and some of them musta been voln so we could get lk'd and we sat and waited, then word got back and so all the oldest people in the game at the time start coming. A veritable all star list of people from that time period, Briars, Jadall, Tsalin, I think Thalior, Dart, its been like 12 or 13 years so I don't remember them all. I was sitting there for an hour just watching them walk in and get killed, rinse repeat.

Finally Metadi and a group cleared it out as I recall. They obviously needed warriors, the spell casters didn't stand a chance.

I wish I had that log. It'd be like today having one of say Tsin, Naseer, Vrannar, Gob, Soulpieced, and anyone else in the 20m club walking through a door and each getting slaughtered one by one.

Well shucks. It's hard to get info on the place (in-game) without experimenting, and that only takes you so far (as well as being dangerous).

I've been trying to figure out the deal with the orb. Since you said that room is a workshop (which I didn't know), maybe it has something to do with that. All I've found out from playing with it is that it WTFpawnsauces your ass whenever you cast at it. :(

And is there some RP deal with the Sheruvian Warlocks not attacking or are they just broken?

I'm also curious about what is behind the portcullis. I'm never in the Landing, and when I am Karly isn't around, so I haven't tried picking the thing yet; though from what I understand it has some stupid hard immolation trap on it.

Long story short. They're broken. It was explained to me a couple years ago. but i honestly can't remember what the deal was.
