Need people to dust off their RP caps and help me develop a loresong. I won the loresong raffle at CCF and would like to make some sort of player memorabilia.

I need stories and names of the most famous players that walked the lands. I expect people to be silly, but I 'd also like some serious input as well.

From my personal experience I plan on including Bleeds, Kodos, Metaboculous, Aanalar, Abdul, Spike the war rat, Beautifulgreen (yes, she deserves an honorable mention), Kali, and a few others who i cant remember off the top of my head. I need names and brief story describing what makes then "legendary". I missed the years between 2000-2009 so I need help filling up that time period.

I am also open to suggestions for the actual loresong. Theme, set up, any and all opinions welcomed. If you think this is stupid and i should use the slot for something else, I'll listen to that as well. Thanks.

***The response is awesome. I would really appreciate a line or two of why these people stood out. I recognize most of the names but some I am unfamiliar with. I need all the help I can get. Thanks.

Nah, neither of those two. She did it legit (macro and script healing 24/7 in TSC) as far as I know. Lost my old fame logs, but she was the highest level in the game in about 1999.

Was it Sympatico? I remember one of those empaths they had to change the RP formula before they hit 300 because they were about to make the game explode. It was like something something divided by 300 - level, so was about to cause a divide by 0 fault whenever she absorbed exp, lol.

And malok...i was trying to remember his name. Got lockpickign so he could keep leveling as a sorcerer. Used to be awesome because he always picked zombie boxes and if you were hunting there you could just walk over to the little dead end room and give them to him right there, lol.

Some of those people could be contacted, with a bit of effort... not all, of course, there's been some deaths and such, sadly... but it's a fantastic idea in theory... I'd love to see more commemoration of influential pc's in game. Once in a while one of my alters include specific pc's for this reason.

04-29-2009, 09:19 PM
If I were making a loresong item, I would create something that belonged to a part of the game that has been lost and tie stories of the characters that interacted with the place/NPC. For example, Coutil (The RR Guard in the days of the boot) an item that was once owned by her with a tale of thief or two being beaten for trying to sneak past her and having thier clock cleaned.

In that way you can preserve something that will otherwise be lost over time.

Player of Ysamine, flattered as all heck to have been mentioned in this thread.

I've been playing since the pay per hour days but took a lot of breaks. Here's a few things that stand out in my mind:

Kodos and his wife Ruriko (sorry on the spelling) were good friends with my real life wife, Matti. She still has something from one of the first few auctions given to her by Ruriko. A lens that lets you see Town Center from anywhere in the game. Anyway, I think if you mention that particular Legend on the cup, you should mention her.

I remember being killed by Bleeds for healing him without permission.

I remember being killed by Blades for typing ki instead of kill. I came out of hiding near the kobold mine and kissed him instead. This was back when you dropped everything on the ground when you died. He eventually came back and helped me get my stuff, and after that I learned to type full commands.

I remember seeing Jesh steal from a merchant once my rogue was legendary. I'm still in awe of that.

I don't remember Banauge as the auto-scripter every one thought he was. He helped my empath many times and I still remember how he hated when people came in and asked for their hp's to be filled up. He would always say, "Aged pea's? Why would we have any of those here?"

Setzier of course. Love him or hate, he always entertained me and I never saw him OOC.

Lawninja and his rogue dolls came later. I remember he and I were racing to see how many spells we could get. He had gotten e-wave, and always used to "mix up a cocktail" as his way of casting. I remember how happy he was later when I did pass him and got imbed and did some of the first rogue mass guards. I miss him (RIP) even if name did kind of irk me, heh.

I'm trying to remember the name of the other famous wizard. I had an ithloss falchion he enchanted to 10x. You could do half enchants then and it was a full 10x. I want to say it started with Ts or something.

I saw Tsoran mentioned but what about Zepath?

I dont know why you would need permission from any of them, to be honest. IMHO its no different than sitting around somewhere and telling stories of the old days and mentioning those peoples names. Hell even when i did all the interviews and peoples names were spoken, and then published to the web, permission was never asked of any of them.

Unless Simu said you needed it...which i would not believe them anyway.

Donquix
04-30-2009, 01:44 PM
Considering it's simu's game, and if simu makes it policy not to do it without the players permission....yes, you do need permission.

It's a fairly common sense policy too.

Mateius

It was a guideline set by a GM so I'm gonna respect it as such. If any of the players that were mentioned in this thread wanna PM me or even email me at ItsMateius@aim.com and give me permission I'll go ahead with my original plan if at least 10 people contact me. I think it'll be fun and there are people that deserve the tribute.

ROFL. if it were that easy. I'll probably have to have every one of them email me or something and then forward it to simu. If enough people think this is a good idea I'll just go on making the loresong and submit it to simu and see if maybe they'd look past the permission part since every char is technically the property of simu. but if they say no, it's a no. i'm not gonna make too big of an ordeal out of this. after all, this was supposed to be in good fun.

I think the main argument Simu will give is, "How would loresinger know who Boomsplat/Thalior/Bleeds et al. are?". It'd be kosher to describe them (like I think they are on the goblets in HS), but not to name them.

The sad thing is this is probably true. Despite the otherwise awesome, crazy, or in some cases crazy awesome stuff that comes with the magic of a loresong, they'll probably ignore the magic part and beat it with the realism stick.

I have a very old scroll which was preserved by an enchantment which cannot be named with the names of many who came to Kelfour's Landing ... to seek their fame.

I wrote it for a visiting dignitary when I was young.

If a bard is interested in performing it to preserve the past, I would gladly share it with them.
