Post simutronics Gemstone

So...it could come this week, or not for another 20 years. Eventually though, simutronics is going to go under. This will leave the player community with a problem. How do they still play their beloved game, without a company to support it? Lets start some discussions and I'll give my ideas.

Initially, a very dedicated, and well to do player will purchase the remnants of Gemstone from simutronics in their last moments for 3k-10k. He will mostly do this because he loves the game and the players, but might also have a financial interest in keeping the game running.

He could then create a company to umbrella the game operations under and set it up as a non profit. This way his other financial interests could continue as they do, and the game would run cheaper.

There will be 3 types of accounts: free to play, monthly donation, donations paid yearly.

FWI would be renamed "founders isle". All houses, guilds, and enchanting workshops would be moved to the isle. The platinum portal system will also be accessible from the isle.

Free to play would have limited locker space, and reduced silver income.

Monthly donation accounts will gain access to founder's isle. (10/mo)

Donation accounts paid in yearly chunks get access to the isle, as well as access to Gift of Lumnis. (120/yr)

At this time the player base will be around 40-75, but might go up as people try out free play.

Never understood LARPing, but I've played GS off and on for fifteen years, so I can't make fun of LARPers. My now ex-coworker LARPs every weekend. I've made so many damn boffer weapons for him. The weird part is the forty year olds+ that show up for these events.

Shit's just odd to me. If I want to go roleplay in the woods, I'd rather be playing paintball or something.
