I have an old style one with Raise Dead (318) on it and I heard they were no longer made. Not sure if it's been used or not anymore, but I got it before sorcerers could infuse.

The prayer book's value will vary tremendously based on whether it is locked or not. A competent Sorcerer should be able to tell you if it is locked or fresh and if it is fresh I suggest taking it to one of the master infusers to have it charged, just to minimize the chance for a failure.

Also, can't a really good sorcerer keep something like that going for a long, long time?

As so long as it can be unlocked, it is worth a fair bit...after a sorcerer unlocks and charges it. If it cannot be unlocked, it is worth 100-500k 500k is pushing it.

Ok thanks for all the info. I've yet to find an infuser in the landing, so I still don't know much.

hmm? how is helping this person punishment? Might as well make the most of my time left. I'm still prepping for CCF, and taking care of my responsibilities. I'm not selling out and I'm not leaving for good, at least yet.

Does the "phase to see if it's unused" trick work on those books (and other similar items) as well, or is it limited only to actual scrolls/whatever synonyms?

phase works on anything that invokes like a scroll, including books.
