For those who I interact regularly IG, I haven't been around Elanthia much lately.

The reason is I've been working like mad completing a book on how to start a business. If this seems like an area that you're vaguely interested in (I know some of you are in related fields), feel free to drop by my new site (http://www.fundamentals-for-founders.com) and check it out.

It covers everything from marketing research to competitive analysis, and includes spreadsheets to model your financial forecasts. I spent months on this, and feel that it successfully captures everything I've learned thus far in my career.

Does it cover nailing your secretary?

Sounds interesting, actually. What's your career, and how long have you been at it?

I bet it sells more copies than Methais' guide to making smart ass posts!

With whoppers like that post to put me to shame, I'm inclined to agree.

Short answer is several years at Microsoft, Motorola, and my own businesses. Basically a tech product manager & entrepreneur.

Long answer is here (http://www.linkedin.com/in/danhou).

It's amazing how productive I am when I contain my GS time...

I might have to give this a look. Are you only planning on having it in pdf format?

PDF to start, since the margins are WAY better. A friend of a friend wrote The Facebook Era (http://www.amazon.com/Facebook-Era-Networks-Products-Audiences/dp/0137152221) and took the more traditional publisher route. She only sees a meager $1 for each copy sold.

I'd much prefer to have lower sales volume in exchange for an actual profit on each transaction. If it gets significant enough buzz, I might approach a publisher with some real leverage to get decent terms.
