Anyone here use a Nostromo n52 for WoW? Got any profiles/advice you can share?

Anyone give me a 30 second summary on how to make a WoW macro usable?

Let me do some digging I remember reading a thread about this on a different board.

Yeah Methais link actually dumbs it down to people speak.. both get the point across though IMO.

Ha.

From what I've seen, I have to assign macros/actions to keybinds in WoW and then assign the keybinds to the n52 in the n52 interface. I was hoping I could assign macros directly to the n52 keys (or there would be support in WoW for the n52) but ah well. I also found it helps to change your action bars to mimic the layout of the n52 as much as possible (3 rows of 4).

The next step is to try a faceroll macro with auto repeating. Elemental shamans don't have much to faceroll 'cept maybe an auto-repeating lightning bolt or a one-key totem set.

It might be fun to try a /castrandom lightning bolt, lightning bolt, chain lightning, lava burst macro for the heck of it though. It would almost certainly be a decrease in DPS but would make for lazy heroics.

I also tried changing my rotate left and rotate right keys to strafe left/right in order to stop my keyboard turning... my first couple of Wintergrasps have been comical with me strafing right off the towers into the endless flood of allies instead of turning to look for the next target. I think I'll just unbind them instead.

Edit: I haven't figured out how to easily tell which shift state you're in yet. Anyone know how?

I use the n52 but have to admit I probably dont get the best out of it.
I just keybind it to my actionbars and have the actionbars do what I want them to do (i.e. straight cast or macro). I never felt the need to do any more, to be honest and playing a feral druid, all I need is mangle anyway.

I don't remember if it was the n52 but weren't there stories about people getting banned for using certain macros on those things, mainly stuff that automates itself like that auto-repeating macro you're talking about?

From what I've been able to find it was for stuff that let you effectively bot. This is more to prevent repetitive stress injuries. :)

231111131111431111123111113111143 etc

or your typical Tankadin/Retadin macro.

Edit: I looked and the auto-repeating feature is indeed prohibited. Ah well, so I wasted $30, I'll survive. The upside is that in the process of looking it up I found that you can accomplish the same thing by assigning the macro to your mousewheel, which so far hasn't been specifically prohibited by Blizz that I could find (since it's still an action producing an action instead of an action producing several actions). Anyone know if it's been prohibited?

I'll still give the (non-repeating) n52 a try though since I went through the effort of redoing my hotbars to match its layout last night.

You can assign it a mousewheel since you have to keep scrolling the wheel it's not technically an auto repeat.
