A Grimswarm orc dissembler gestures at you!
A wave of formless black ripples moves outward from a Grimswarm orc dissembler.
Zodier is buffeted by the formless black waves, and is knocked to the ground.
... 30 points of damage!
Upper and lower leg shatter as they decompress!
He is stunned!
You are buffeted by the formless black waves and are pinned in place, unable to move.
Roundtime: 19 sec.
... 35 points of damage!
Bones in left leg shatter violently leaving behind a bloody stump!
You are stunned for 8 rounds!
!SPR>
A Grimswarm orc scout slashes with a hook-knife at you!
AS: +439 vs DS: +440 with AvD: +27 + d100 roll: +81 = +107
... and hits for 1 point of damage!
Quick slash at your left eye.
Strike lands but misses the target.
A dark shadowy tendril rises up from your skin, writhes its way up a hook-knife towards a Grimswarm orc scout and lashes out malevolently...
Your surroundings blur for a moment . . .

[Ta'Illistim, Hanging Gardens]
Although the floating platform is suspended well above the ground below, it overflows with abundant plant life. The edges of the dais are brimming with delicate white queen's lace, dark lavender, fragrant rosemary and a variety of other colorful flora. Thick grass underfoot provides an enticingly peaceful resting spot. A thin silk canopy is suspended above, providing ample shade from the day's brightness. You also see the Darqwolf disk, the Fuaru disk, the Dessedemona disk, an arrow, a stale raisin tart, a large faenor-chased barrel, a richly finished wooden bench with some stuff on it, a glaesine arch and a medicinal donations bin.
Also here: a stunned Zodier who is lying down, Darqwolf, High Lord Fuaru, High Lady Dessedemona, Mondran, Lord Cyfhron, Dithio
Obvious paths: out
The shadowy tendrils surrounding you begin to swirl faster and faster until they are just a blurred haze of quickly spiraling darkness.
The tendrils drain most of your life force.
... 15 points of damage!
A finger on your left hand is torn away.

Minor wound and took 8 spirit.

I don't use 130 with retribution, does it always take spirit? will it spirit death you?

Looks like it's a result of the spell backlashing from not having enough lore ranks.

First time I've used it in awhile. I'm pretty sure it always takes spirit. I remember it taking 6 spirit but this time I had 2 of 10 spirit when i returned. Great perk of being in sunfist is having spirit to use sacrifice and retribution 130.

Nothing to do with lore ranks. Just the punishment of the high level spell being used in the retribution. I have 63 demonology ranks. It successfully casted 130.

From my testing in the temple, chanting retribution with 130 will always drain all but two spirit when it activates. It also will attack a leg, leaving a rank 2 wound. The spirit drain and the wound don't seem to change with any amount of demonology lore.

So far with my 202 demonology ranks, I have only had my cloak fail to transport me once activated while 130 was my retribution. There is supposed to be an increased difficulty by using 130, and I bet my demonology leves me with only a tiny chancefor that happening. When that happens, you lose all but 2 spirit and don't move!

So I had wracked down to 3 spirit and got stunned the retribution would just take me down 1 spirit to 2? I never chant anything on my cloak I'm just that lazy.

Hmm my thing is I usually die cause of blood lost from the 130 backlash. It's probably killed me more then it's saved my life but at least I die in town.

Its been a long time. But I remember having a spirit death from it.

EDIT: I used to wrack down to 1 spirit though.

On the spirit death issue, I only had the cloak activate when Sereg had either 9 or 10 spirit, so I honestly don't know (and I don't want to be a test gnome for a possible spirit death).

That being said, the message one gets when the cloak activates is "The tendrils drain most of your life force" rather than "The tendrils drain 8 spirit" or something similar. My guess would be the cloak is designed to take you down to next to no spirit rather than kill you, as the prudent Sorcerer(an oxymoron?) would rest and recover her spirits for a bit before returning to the fray.

yeah, obviously I'm not going to 130 in the rift, but I've been known to wander with 1 spirit.
