Am I completely off in thinking there are a lot of unfinished story lines?
Please list ones you can think of, in what town, when they started and how long they have been dead.
edit: my attention to story lines has admittedly been limited to skimming the boards due to life, but I tend to be observant of trends.

I wanna know what happened to Spike the War Rat. I might have left before his plotline was finished, and I think he was missing when I left. But he is by far my favorite character ever in GS.

He lived, he died, he came back to save the day again.
What's unfinished?
Edit: Scratch that, read that wrong. Yeah, he came back from the dead and helped lead brave adventurers to solve the problem that threatened the world, then faded off into the distance, a'la Devestior.
The Landing mayor was kidnapped at a kobold wedding.
And then GM Talisker got sick. He came back, and then got sick again I think.
The Landing mayor has been MIA for like an entire year now.
I mean, I understand, he got sick. This isn't a bash on him. It's just the biggest unfinished storyline I can think of.

I want to know what happened to Terate's l33t "locate me motherfucka' and you're getting obliterated 3 times" mechanic.
That'd be a cool novelty item. "The Ring of Terate." Locates = 3 deaths for the locator.
That and Zarg's Tavern, ffs.

yeah, that's the type of stuff I was thinking of.
I believe the Icemule storyline came to a halt recently.
It just seems that stop-and-go tends to be the rule rather than the exception, and/or the logistics are poorly planned (FWI water elementals)

I think there are a lot of classics that Simu's legally forbidden from completing due to ICE stuff, like that Black Swan Castle near Landing. That could also be a company line and total BS, though.

I'm not thinking about any of the old stuff, within the past year or so

The IMT "Roses" storyline started on June 28, 2008. A few weeks of threats, snow writing, etc. A lull, then about a month or so later a frozen carcass in the jail. That then led somehow to the Mayoral race which was completed I don't know when.
Then almost a month ago, the "Roses" storyline picks back up for hrm, a week, maybe two? And now, zippo. It's hard to RP being concerned about it when it drops into nothing for such long periods of time. I don't find it plausible to be scared IC of something that only threatens on a semi-monthly type basis!

WTF That dead rolton and the stupid ribbon near the bridge to GY in the Landing.

Sounds like the exception rather than the rule, to me.
Otherwise I'd expect the PC to at least pull up a list of a dozen things. I mean, hell, multiple sorcerers on this board can find a dozen things wrong with each of a dozen spells... and that's just gross.

Or possibly that nobody cares about RP events (that don't have l33t invasions) because they typically suck?

That is an alternative explanation, I agree.
Anyway, if this cause needs a rallying cry, it should be:
LULZ NOT LULLS

I was specifically addressing this year's storylines due to the post I was replying to. As for the IMT election, it was my impression that the storyline was done with the election. If that was not the case, my apologies, as I was unaware of it. There is a current storyline going on in Icemule that I was referring to with the 'lull' because it was mentioned specifically in the post I responded to.
I realize the frustration about the WL storyline, but unfortunate things have happened with the GM who runs that, not once but twice. These things were unforseen and as it is one storyline (granted, its been going on for a long time now), I consider it one instance, despite how long it is taking to resolve. That, combined with the Icemule storyline still make 2 in comparison to the several that have started and completed. This is why I believe, and stick to, my statement that they are the exception, rather than the rule.
