For those of you old enough to remember dialup and the old BBS days...

I found out that people are still running BBS's via Telnet....

It's good for a quick laugh/trip down memory lane...

I forgot how cool some of that ANSI/ASCII art was..

beyond the 15 minutes of nostalgia, not much worth doing on the boards... although for those of you oldschool Tradewars fanatics, it seems that there are a number of BBS's that still run TW + tournaments world wide..

Legend of the Red Dragon, Usurper, Hack-n-Slash, Storm(something).

Yeah, I think most of those are all playable.. BBS's are free.. it's weird, but there are still cult followings around those games..

I was lucky enough as a kid with a 300bps modem on a Commodore 64 to have 4 local BBSs, god that was fun, got me addicted to the online world, and then was CompuServe.

<gaze>

Good times!

I though 14.4 was the shit when I got one..

had a bunch of local bbs's, but also didn't understand the concept of "long distance" phone calls at that age.. needless to say, I had to work my ass off to pay an 800$ phone bill...

Eh, if you wanna goof around with them, find a program like Syncterm and google "Synchronet"... there ton's of BBS listings online.. and it's all over Telnet so it's not like u need to go back to the dialup days.
