How does one find out if they have any redux? Is there an accurate calculator out there, or is it too random now to determine? I know spell knowledge is bad, and I read on the official website about all the skills that are needed to factor into it, but is there anyway to tell if you actually do have any? Besides letting something hit you?

Also, a quick, non related question. On the rift, can you have spells from circles you have access to, or only spells you already know?

Thanks guys!

Well to find out if you have it, you used to able to check in at a local inn, then when you went to exit you would get a message telling you "you didn't have the skills required for defense redux" or some such nonsense. If you didn't get that message, hey!, you got redux.

I don't know if that still works though.

It still does. I see it when my pures check in.

Don't worry about redux as a square. You'll have plenty of it no matter how you train. Train according to the tactics necessary to defeat what you are currently hunting.

The only accurate calculator is Mark (Riltus here, SpyridonM on the officials). I or people familiar with my work can give you a pretty good idea, Xygon's old calculator and applications of its ilk are terribly misleading, and Tsoran's spreadsheet was never intended to be right, so it makes sense that every redux number it gives is godawful.

There really isn't all that much important randomness to the process. Even with my incomplete method, I can get down to +/-.01 redux factor quickly and properly.

For a single hit it is pretty easy to determine.. Just take a bunch of hits with no padded and no crit weapon used on you. Average out the hits and you have a rough estimate.

X = total end roll - 100
Y = damage factor
Z = crit damage
R = real damage

1 - R / (X * Y + Z)

Here's an excel file with a redux calculator so you can just enter in the inputs and the redux will calculate automatically for that hit. You don't need to know damage factors or crit damages either, just put in the messaging and it's all in there. It's on the redux tab. There are other random numbers I was crunching too that you can ignore.
