I sold a memory stick to some guy in Queens, NY and he claims he never got it, now he's getting ready to put negative feedback on me.

Yes, I was an idiot and didn't put tracking on it.

He did pay me for it, but what should I do? Just refund his money and suck it up if he's just lieing and he actually did receive it? Anyone have any experience on this kind of BS?

Fuck the USPS, I'm sure they just "lost" it and now its in some employee's computer.

Without having a tracking number or anyway to prove differently you are in fact basically screwed. Or atleast I would assume so, you could refund the money or see if maybe ups can do something trace it or some such. Without the tracking number.

Well, I'd refund his money if you don't want negative feed back and chalk it up to experience. I've had a few items sent to me that I never recieved but luckily, I had insurance on it. Most of the time, the seller didn't give me any shit about it.

However, it's up to you.

Edited for a typo.

Refund his money, hon, and send him an apology. That is really all you can do, at this point. If he leaves negative feedback, there is the facility on EBay for you to answer that feedback with a short explanation. :)

I don't sell anything on eBay anymore. Not since I got screwed out of $150 selling my digital Mavica, and buyer reversed transaction on me as soon as I shipped it out. PayPal wouldn't do shit for me either, spent about 3 weeks getting in touch with customer service and everything.

actually considering he's from queens he's most likely got it and is just trying to get you to refund him. that's standard ops in nyc.

That's what I was thinking.

Next time charge the customer 5 dollars for the insurance, or put a disclaimer that states insurance is optional and at the expense of the buyer.

Now though you're basically screwed. If you care that much about the feedback, send him the money and appologize. If not, keep the money and suck up the negative.

I did have a disclaimer for insurance as optional on the auction.

Heh...and I was thinking...Queens...probably a mob crime syndicate revolving around this.

I told him he should check with his post office and see if they went Sept. 11th crazy on the package (it was pretty crappily wrapped) and are holding it for delivery or some shit like that. If that doesn't work, I'll probably have to refund him.

That totally sucks. But like y'all have said. I've learned my lesson, and hell...its only 40 some odd bucks and some crappy memory.

You do realize though that 95% of the people don't purchase the insurance when offered. Also, if they don't get the package you will still get negative feedback. It's their fault, but you'll still get negative feedback....
