To give clerics the ability to cross realms teleport, with a group, with 1/5th of their 25th spell, at less than 1/5th the cost we spend to do the same, with the entire spell, of our 40th level spell, without a group, is fucking lame.

I'm not the kind of guy who needs to have a unique power, fuck, let every profession cross realm teleport. But I sure as shit do not want to be the only fucker paying for it. Its like finding out a hooker gives it away for free to everyone except you.

The fact is, Oscuro and Estild have such a ridiculous hardon for clerics I'm surprised they can even sit at a desk to do any work. I don't get how they keep getting all this shit approved, meanwhile we get diddy done. Oh yes, we appreciate Strath's bug fixes, we do, don't we guys? Yes, lets not forget to compliment Strath.

But when was the last time Strath took an ability from another profession and gave it to us at 1/5th the cost?

I'd love it if 640 and 650 got components to help increase their duration and effectiveness. I've long advocated for a foraged potion of 10-20 random herbs brought to the alchemist who does the 620 resistance potions to be brewed into a component that extended 650's pitiful duration.

Previous to that clerics were the most awesome hunting profession ever, if you were hunting undead. After that they got to kick ass on other things too. Couple that with meditation (which was nerfed a few years later, rightfully so), exp from raising, lower training costs, thicker armor, etc. Pretty bitchin. Empaths rival them now though thanks to the awesomeness that is boneshatter.

Clerics are, and ditto that adjacent? It isn't even worth the mention much less the cost unless as Belnia stated, you're somewhere like Ta'Illistim.

You have to train hard in lores to even make these gems, half the time, my nexus gems don't even work. I have like 1 out of 3 dissolve in my hands and fail.

But after level 20 its illegal or something to use a slot that isn't a multiple of 5 so I'm all for giving spells multiple options. Its basically like more spells.

Also, aren't improvements based somewhat on how active your particular profession GM is? I'm guessing if they are being paid from the tip jar or whatever some will be more into it than others.

Clerics STILL need a lot of love, but Miracle and now this goes a long ways. Still, Empaths should have lost the 200s circle, giving Cleric sole access to Major Spirit.

Not that I need or even want your cookie, but even chronomage is 100k a pop and can take up to two hours. Sorcerers still have the best deal on teleportation, sure chalk is expensive but you get to travel to any location in an instant.

We're only getting adjacent realm, the fact that you are sore about it is fundamentally stupid.

I was extremely excited when I heard that this actually worked. I had visions of grandeur in my head and suddenly though I could cut travel time from the Landing to Illistim in half, or even less.

Then I went out to test it... Ta'Vaalor to Ta'Illistim, check, wow that was fun, maybe I can get to the dais from Zul'Lugoth? Nope, can I get to Illistim after the cart ride from Zul'Lugoth? Nope.

Could I get to Solhaven from the Landing (a 60 second walk)? Nope.

Could I get to Icemule from the Landing (Maybe 2 minutes of walking)? Nope.

You can't cut short ANY travel time with this ability, so the issue must be something else... Perhaps it's overpowering to have an adjacent realm gold ring type effect?

Well, it's NOT an adjacent realm gold ring either. It's a one way ticket. You tap the gem where you want to land eventually, but it doesn't set the gem's bind location, it sets the CLERIC's bind location. Any nexus gem you create, forever and ever, will try to teleport you to that location unless you tap a new gem somewhere else!

As I said before, I was extremely excited, but my visions of grandeur didn't come to fruition. It turns out to be a situational rescue device that I probably won't use unless I'm rescuing one of my other characters, or when I start hunting in OTF (months away).

So keep thinking it's overpowered... The grass is always greener and all that jazz.

I have to think no, as you would bypass the ticket fee, wouldn't you? I doubt you can set, or use any transportation item on that ship, but I could be totally wrong. I know on the Cutter to RR if you go to a major sanctuary right before they kick you off you can be on the boat when you're not supposed to, so maybe it is possible. I wouldn't advertise it if you can.

no time - Right... so the hunting people have to do to "bond" to the weapon isn't time? The only thing a paladin gets from the kneel/prep/cast business is permablessing the weapon in their hands.

no mana infusing - I'm going to assume that part of this is the ability to infuse a spell into the sanctified weapon... utter bullshit that it doesn't take mana. No, we don't "infuse" mana into the weapon to cast the spell, but it does take mana once the weapon flares with the spell. Along with that, we have a limit on what spells we can infuse, both the type of spell, and how "high" it is on a spell list without major training in lore.

auction quality - Yeah, because Paladins aren't worthy of auction-quality items that are "personalized" to them. Uh huh. You do know that a sanctified weapon can't be used (with the extra goodies) by anybody else, right?

As to the actual spell I have not played in a while but I personally see this as being a reasonably useful utility for clerics to get to bodies slightly faster. I say slightly because if you can only warp to adjacent realms most scripts could easily duplicate the ease of use, they might just take slightly longer unless something earth shattering has happened in GS in the past 6+ months.

It requires no quest, no runestone, no component, no time, no mana infusing, all you do is kneel and prep/cast. That spell is certifiable bullshit. I hesitate to post this, as I know it will not help the situation. But the fact is, Planar Shift (740) is vastly superior to Nexus. If you think they're alike, then you are oblivious to the details of each spell.

As Oscuro already stated, the ability to teleport to adjacent realms is extremely limited. In most cases, you cannot use it to travel from town to town and it is a one way ticket.

More so, Sorcerers do not own cross-realm teleportation. It's more the privy of Savants than Sorcerers.

Nope, that had nothing to do with it, and I never asked for close to 30m on it. I sold it for 14m, profitably, and it wasn't HCP, not being armor, and it also wasn't HCW. I honestly don't remember what it's stats were it was so long ago, but it wasn't weighted.

1625 annoys me because sorcerers miss no opportunity for another component requirement, and we were told time and again by Nilven etal that all new spells would require such things, and THEN 1625 is released as prep/cast. Which, no reasonable person could defend as balanced. Seriously, it isn't like you cast the spell every hunt, and for what it provides a week long effort of grummaging, or questing, would be reasonable and on par with other similar abilities.

That would be nice. Truthfully I like the risk. Probably I have just gotten use to the high costs. But with the right training in Demonology the majority of the risk is trained away.

I dunno, I think most of Viril's complaints over the years have been pretty legit. Sorcerers have gotten the shaft almost the whole time since growing pains.

He might go overboard sometimes and his solutions might not always be the best, but I can see exactly where he's coming from here, since pretty much the same thing happened to wizards when they nerfed Charge Item into uselessness and then came out with Scroll Infusion for sorcs not long after.

I don't see a reason why Simu shouldn't buff sorcerer teleportation, at least in the components department. Even if the cost is the same, the annoyance factor should be dropped way down. I don't really know how the spell works but from what I hear it's annoying to deal with, especially with the failure chance on top of it all.

740 is far from a crappy spell. it's instant access with little risk to potentially 200 rooms in the game. No ice patches, ferries or creatures to worry about. I can go from the cottage in OTF to the statue on Teras in less than 10 seconds.

All I've ever really played are sorcerers (I dabble in roguery but that's about it), and I think 740 is great.

It gets less great every time something like it is released, in a loss of uniqueness sort of way. Like the chronos, the dragonflies, and now a wee bit of 325.

All I've ever really played are sorcerers (I dabble in roguery but that's about it), and I think 740 is great.

It gets less great every time something like it is released, in a loss of uniqueness sort of way. Like the chronos, the dragonflies, and now a wee bit of 325.

If they open up portals I still want 740. Just make the chalk as cheap as the other chalk is now, and somewhere down the line have it gain a big secondary effect. 740 is a great spell. The only thing that needs to be changed is the price. Strathspey seems to get the idea. He will be making adjacent realms travel cheaper, which is all that really needs to be done before the review. AFTER the review, I want the option to take people with me in Adjacent realms transportation.

140 rank of demon lore = no death on inter-realm hoppity

but the irony for me is that no amount of lore can reduce the randomness of death with intra-realm cheap chalk, that small percentage always get ya.

Hence the hop to everywhere is safer than a hop within an area.

yup yup, but i kinda do the cheap chalk alot, so maybe the sheer number of attempt caught up with me, but once I get shadow bitten twice for all my troubles, I just quit and start walking ... haven't used a gold ring in ages.

went from a high of 180 to close 148 now, since the 140 rank is the 100% non kill for cross-realm, I wasn't interested in weight of a demon mule like Sereg, but I was interested if over train rank makes intra-realm travel safer.

So since I die and get minors with or without the added ranks, I am slowly putting it back into necro, think i had that split of 140/60 before testing it.

Safe for me to take a cross realm trip, but not from illistim town to dock!
