Here's the deal.....

I am a beer and liquor drinker. I don't care much for wine. A couple of friends of mine are going to celebrate their 15th wedding aniversary and they asked me (since they do not drink) what kind of wine would be good for a romantic night alone. Well, you get the drift.

I need suggestions!!!

Sheesh. There are dry wines, very dry wines, sweet wines...it all depends on individual taste. If they are looking for something romantic to make their evening special, I would suggest the old "tried and true"...champagne.

Asti Spumati not as dry as Champayne but still a bubbly. ( Aston Martini I think or something like that) is the name I like.

Go for a Beaujolais produced by Jadot or Vissoux. A very nice wine for a romantic evening. It's a red wine that's very flavorful, but isn't dry at all like a merlot.

Works well for the ladies. Good luck

I'm partial to a blush zinfandel for the flavor. It also depends on what they're eating though. What you like in wine is so subjective there's really no good advice.

Oooh! Myshel is right! Asti Spumanti would be a terrific choice. A lovely, sweet, pale yellow wine that is delicious! :D

Nah, early 30's. My friends are mid 40's. I'm not married, just trying to help out some good friends that would do the same for me.

Moscato d'Asti is similar to the Spumanti with less bubbles
it's low in alcohol

Brachetto d'Acqui is the blush cousin of the Moscato

a bottle of each is easily drinkable by two people in the course of an evening.

it's hard to go wrong with a dry french champagne

my advice - stay away from heavy red wines unless their idea of romance is getting drunk
