So we made the mistake of inviting my wife's lonely friend over lunch today.
She suddenly became a MSU fan, and now seems to have taken a liking to Oklahoma.
I hate situations like this.

Oklahoma rocks. We're one of the lucky states that haven't been hit hard by the recession... of course there isn't much to lose here though either.

I finally invited her out for dinner.
The trick was to get her out of the house, and then, without acknowledging it, walk to the metro instead of back to my apartment.
Great success.

We finished lunch and she just sat there talking. I turned on the game, and she proceeded to watch it. The next game came on, and she kept watching.
It'll be a while before I let my wife invite her over again.

so she didn't like..just spend the night or something right.. she was trying to get in on some threesome action... hence the liking 'the game' part.. to lure you in.

I bet she felt like she had to be your guest a while... I dunno what the time frame is..for going to someone's house for lunch.... to be like...welp lunch is done..ok peace bitches... would seem a little hasty..but fuck if i'd sit through a game...much less 2...and pretend to like it.
generally when I have friends over they bring a pillow..and some alcohol..cause they sure as hell aren't drinking all of mine.

My wife invited her to lunch because she's been sort of lonely lately, and thought it'd be nice to give her something to do.
Neither of us expected she'd stay through dinner.

speaking of evictions etc (which I was not) my landlord has not followed up with the law about keeping the deposit. Should I first talk to him politely on the phone about this and what is now his forfeiture (legally) of claiming/refusing it or should I just send the certified letter saying cough it up or I'm filing a claim downtown?

Well sometimes when you're married it's a good thing but one or the other will get pissed off.
Our schedules and dealing with the kids negated most of those problems so we rarely had anyone over but when my friend did come over for what was sposed to be a day and always ended up a week she got pissed and I annoyed.
It's hard to tell a good friend to step off however when you rarely see them.

lol it's the binge-drinking buddy. Usually his trips were coordinated with her trips to orlando for disney etc. She just wasn't happy with the mess we made upon return.
He was never intoxicated around the girls. Actually he read to them and got his ass kicked at monopoly more times than I can remember.
We were all nighters anyways. Usually go fishing or hit some live music at the beach during the day.
I never exposed my kids to shit other than an episode or two of which I regret entirely (getting out of the car and walking home from the grocery store type shit).

It's sort of how I feel about my brother being around my nieces too much. He's really great with them. But he's also 40, homeless and living out of his car, never finished the 9th grade, smokes, drinks, does drugs, and is very emotionally unstable.
It's not that I think he hurts them day-to-day, but sometimes, especially when it's supposed to be someone they look up to, you want to protect kids from that.

Agreed. However I've got him on a leash and he's very respectable. I'd also take a bullet for him and he'd do the same for my children.
I'm a lot of things but watching over and protecting my children is priority one.
They have no needs right now and living well under the protection of their grandfather who threatened to kill me as his first sentence to me if I ever hurt his daughter.
I send what I can but right now I have to get off probation and fast. Then I promised her I'll send all I can to pay off her debts. She is living rent free and the kids are fine.
I miss the fuck out of them however. I've been sending post cards every couple days or so at least. It's the best I can do at the moment.

Lol I forgot to mention that this thread reminded me of that old OSU/Michigan commercial with the couple on the couch in their colors.
"without college sports this wouldn't be disgusting"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=liNBAvdfakg
which is also always fun since my sister always hosts for holidays etc and she's a gator grad and her husband is a Seminole grad. Makes for fun pranks/gifts.

Get her friend really drunk until they pass out.
Remove his/her pants and take a giant dump in them (the pants).
Act like you know he/she shit themself the next day, but do so via awkward moments of silence, indicating to them that you know what they did but don't want to say anything about it. Laughing just before and after they enter the room will enhance this effect.
They should be gone by noon.

Ummmm, let's see here: Since the threesome suggestion has already somewhat been hashed out, I say you do a onesome and masturbate in her bras like a responsible adult when she isn't looking.

That's an easy fix. My brother was a full blown coke head when my kids were born. After they came home from the NICU I drove up to South Bend, found him, said hey let's go see your nephews. We drove back down to Indy, I pulled into the drive way and when we got out of the car I said "Stop. This is as close as you'll ever get while you're doin drugs. Get back in the car." And then we drove back. It was worth every minute of those 12 hours I spent driving that day. *This might not work with everyone but I knew that my brother would care more about my kids than anything else*
I'm an asshole, what can I say.
Yeah essentially. I mean you even got to watch the game. If she was talking or something the whole time I understand, commercials are for talking, games are for watching.

Clearly that woman was seriously lonely (as well as out of touch with how to be a polite guest). Then again, this might be one of the reasons she's lonely too.
I understand the desire for guests to go. I kick my own freaking family out when I'm ready for them to leave. Personally Keller, I would not have taken someone I invited for lunch, out to dinner just to get them to leave. "Well I enjoyed lunch and the game, but we really have some things to do so we should wrap this up..." etc. etc. etc. After that, I start getting nasty. I don't want friends who won't leave when asked. But that's just me.

I'm actually a people person, so I woulda thought watching the game with someone else would be better than watching it alone. Fancy that.
How do deal with clients, who aren't even your friends, who want all your time? Your life must be miserable if your only justification is, "Man, they pay me a lot to deal with these people constantly."

When I say lunch is over, it isn't an invitation to do something else. "Let's wrap this up" means "You don't have to go home but you can't stay here." You and your wife were too polite, there are a hundred ways to say "Get the fuck out" (some of them quite nice and cordial sounding) you just have to pick one and say it.
