Forging Quirks

A couple of things not mentioned in the resources that I've found so far:

1. Is a perfect forging-hammer a huge factor in churning out perfect weapons, or is it more important to have a superior one that you're attuned to?

2. Any way to tell your level of attunement to a particular hammer?

3. Does encumbrance play a role in your success?

4. Are there any spells that assist with success at crafting (actually assembling the weapons)? Song of Luck, Perception, Calm, Light? I've had an abysmal time getting perfect components to generate a perfect weapon or hammer. Currently I'm going on 30 tries with a perfect handle and head, and nothing but 30 superiors to show for it (as an aside, Visit My Playershop!).

1. I would love to know this also. Like you, I am having godawful luck at the vise with my hammer-head and hammer-handle... and those mithril slabs are getting expensive!

1. The perfect hammer gives a better chance to make those "best" pieces that are required for perfect weapons. I THINK the bonus for a perfect hammer is 10%, while superior is like 6%?

2. You're either attuned or you're not. When you create the hammer, you're instantly fully attuned. If you use someone elses hammer, you need to work with it until you become attuned. I attuned my paladin to a hammer created by my cleric, here were my findings http://forum.gsplayers.com/showthread.php?t=40609
