I shall continuing my flood of items I need. Someone is willing to help buy me a camera since my last one got destroyed in Australia. Anyone have any suggestions.

Price range: ~$300-400 (possibly more)
Zoom: Decent optic zoom; I do a lot of wildlife/landscape photography
Size isn't an issue, but it needs to be durable.
Battery type isn't a huge issue either, but I'd prefer a recharable battery pack.
Has to be digital though.

I like Canon (http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ProductCatIndexAct&fcategoryid=113).

Optical focus, digital format as large as your card, close picture function and non-flash, plus it does video with sound.

Cameras are sensitive devices. Do not drop it. Use the wrist cord at all times.

I've also been looking for a decent camera in the $150 range since I've been thinking of maybe selling some stuff on Ebay. At first glance a lot of the Canon cameras look good but I've read a lot of reviews where people get lens errors that makes them unusable. And if there's so much as a scratch on the camera, Canon will claim it was 'abused' so not covered by the warranty.

In that price range, Canon or Nikon are pretty much a no brainer. This holds true for almost all price ranges above that too.

I have a Canon Powershot A720 IS, and it's treated me wonderfully. It gives you a ton of control to fine-tune shots, but great for just point-and-shoot as well. I used to swear by my film SLR, but this is enough of a middle ground that I leave the big guy at home on vacations. Biggest complaint is that the flash takes a while to (re)charge, but I can deal.

I am looking at the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28 right now. Anyone got one?

18x optic zoom for a point and shoot. Bonerzzzzz
