Whoever coded the Grimswarm (Strathspey?) was a sadistic bastard and deserves to be roasted over a slow fire for making them such bitches. However, there is that occasional moment ...

I went into a 300+ giant camp with a warchief assassination task. Found him:

Meanwhile, I'm being heavily dispelled and beat on and they finally manage to kill me, which looks like a Christmas tree exploding after you plug it into an industrial generator.

Then, after Kaedra somehow manages to find me up on the top of Aenatumgana outside this warcamp and I'm back in Pinefar recovering from the chew-fest, this happens:

The fucker died of his wounds, after shaking off +400 endrolls like they were snowflakes. My only comment to this is:

I'm going to assume you're a half-sylvan which means with a single shot of strength you could have gotten your shots down to 3 seconds and a single use of haste could have killed that stupid warchief in 1/5th the time.

I would have just moved and recast them - waiting 6 seconds soft seconds for a 4 second reduction on all subsequent attacks is worth it.

However, looks like you had the last laugh in the end.

Yeah, giant warchiefs have a grip of health. At cap, I feel like it is somewhere in the 5k+ zone. And I feel they recover health at like 150 per. I know troll warchiefs can be max health in like 2 pulses.

he had 117 for the higher AS attacks. My guess the last few shots he was low on blood.

Yep, 117 for the high ones, then Wolf dropped and I was losing blood. I didn't think I'd make it out, so I took an extra shot to see if I could kill the bugger before I died.

I much prefer shaman tasks. Wish the first one had gone like this:

A dirt path leads over a rise of earth and down towards a collection of mismatching tents and huts. The rotting stench of the encampment's inhabitants lingers in the air, mixed with the aroma of cooked flesh and burning wood. A heavy grey haze of campfire smoke hangs over the warcamp and drifts down behind the rise of land, creating a pocket of concealment from the eyes of the nearby Grimswarm. You also see an obscured path leading out.

[Warcamp, Entrance]
The entrance to the warcamp consists of nothing more than a large gap in a wall built of broken trees and shrubs haphazardly stacked upon the other. In the turned up earth by the entryway, a bloody child-sized hand reaches up toward the sky, a forgotten or discarded prize of the Grimswarm. Inside the entrance, the path separates into three directions, wrapping around several poorly constructed huts. To the south, a path leads to a small rise in land, blanketed in a haze of campfire smoke.

[Warcamp, Outside]
Three beaten paths break off in a northerly direction, curving around a number of poorly built huts and tents. A pile of broken bones and rotting flesh compete with a pile of steaming offal for the most nauseating odor available. Over the top of the tents, a tall wooden flagpole marks the center of the warcamp just ahead, while a broad dirt path leads south to the sole entrance and exit of the encampment. You also see a Grimswarm giant guard.
Obvious paths: north, northeast, south, northwest

[Warcamp, Outside]
In the center of the warcamp is a wide area bordered by the many ragged tents and huts of the Grimswarm. A towering wooden flagpole is situated at the north end of the assembly area and is flanked by a series of iron spikes driven into the ground, topped with sun-bleached skulls. Lying so much like a forgotten rag doll, a body has been discarded in the middle of the open space, its limbs sprawled and twisted at unnatural angles. You also see a Grimswarm giant guard.
Obvious paths: north, east, south, west

[Warcamp, Outside]
A great hut stands within a clearing unto itself in the encampment of the Grimswarm. Twin red and black banner poles flank its entrance, while bodies lashed to the walls with cords of leather decorate its exterior. Pale grey curls of smoke drift from the top of the hut, spiraling towards the smoke haze above the warcamp. Next to the hut, suspended upside down on a wood rack is the rotting corpse of a troll, pierced through the heart with a massive boar spear. You also see a Grimswarm giant guard.
Obvious paths: north, southeast, south, southwest

Cages filled with creatures of all sizes are stacked against the wall of a hut spaced away from its neighbors by numerous yards. Next to the cages is a small pile of former cage occupants, the remains of sacrifices and divinations. The air around the hut carries a suggestion of herbs and spices and appears to emanate from cracks in the hut's walls. Wind chimes constructed of finger bones of various races fill the air with a morbid clattering. You also see a Grimswarm giant guard.
Obvious paths: north, south

From some where within the warcamp, you hear a loud roar of alarm that will no doubt rouse the entire warcamp!

A blood-covered slab of stone sits in the center of the hut directly between the entryway and a bone and hide altar. Crudely fashioned cages hang from hooks in the ceiling and birds of varying species fearfully gaze out from behind the thin bars. The air is thick with the scent and smoke of burning herbs in randomly placed braziers, creating a scented haze that fills the room. The floor crunches underfoot, carpeted with cast off carcasses and the remains of numerous sacrifices. You also see a battle-scarred Grimswarm giant ranger, a Grimswarm giant bodyguard, a Grimswarm giant bodyguard and a Grimswarm giant shaman.

Why the hell aren't you using major bane?

That knocks a serious amount off the endroll you need to crit kill to the eye; Edaarin used to devastate grimswarm squares with it.

I wish. I'm working on razing this camp by myself at the moment for rank 15. I've got 17 razed camps, but they wanted another.

It's not doing too much for me yet... 'course, my AS is only 450. Still, Grim squares are a pain in my ass.

Seriously. I'd be happy if all they ever sent me were mages and whatnot. One-shot kills to most of them. But instead I get swamped with rangers with WoF and Air Wall up, and squares that just won't die.

I know that feeling. my arrows have a bitch of a time killing squares. you do notice more kills with major bane once you get it against squares though. If you can get a group together you can all raze the camp. the grandmaster doesn't care if you raze the camp solo or as a group, just that you are part of the group that razes it.

Screw groups This camp had 270 giants in it. There are 14 left.
