View Full Version : Feint vs. Sucker Punch

I just have a few questions...

1)What are the positives and negatives of both?
2)Which would be more beneficial if I'm just looking for a simple maneuver to drop a stance and induce hard RT?
3)Which one would prevent the target from doing anything for a longer period of time?

I'm making a TWC rogue, no lockpicking, so any opinions would be appreciated.

I love sucker punch, but it doesn't have much oomph to become useful. It is a cheap skill as it cost 2,3,4,5,6 instead of 2,4,6,8,10. It doesn't drop stance much, but it does I'd say about 10%-25% on like level. It doesn't inflict RT, it stuns the target for 2 seconds. If you have flaring arm greaves or armor, it will cause them to flare as long as you have nothing in your hands. Brawling skill helps success, but not by much (another go fucking figure moment for rogues and that bullshit of 3/1 training cost).

I used sucker punch for quite a long time with my TWC rogue. Great set up for Coup if you use it. The part about not inflicting RT is a negative vs. Feint. But, if you should happen to have a flaring weapon in your hand, Spunch will activate the flare in addition to arm armor. Can we say feras? Sure, I knew ya could. Just my 2 pennies.

Yea, weapon in hand works, but only the right hand. And you don't get dual flares, its one or the other. If you have a weapon in hand that doesn't flare, but your armor does, no flares will ever happen. So keep that in mind when you are using it.

Alright cool... Thanks. I'm trying to have flaring weapons anyways, since I don't usually hunt anything undead. Seems like sucker punch is the best option for me for the time being.

What about spiked armor with non-flaring weapons? Or flaring weapons with spiked armor? Also, an arrow with 411 active could flare, correct?

? 3/1 so what?

Brawling is a natural rogue skill, it should cost 2/1. So 3/1 and then 6/2 which would cost you an additional 750k experience at cap. It is one of the few things I do not agree with on the rogue's design. The majority of the brawling weapons are more geared for rogues than warriors, yet warriors have the 2/1 cost.

As for spiked armor, sucker punch will activate the spikes if bare-handed. But as stated, if you have anything in your right hand, you null the effects of your armor. So it is either or. Flaring arrows aren't something I'm too familiar with, as I've broke a bunch of them when trying to have cheap, special flaring ones. Once you use them as an OHE they don't seem to bundle right. Or atleast a small bunch of them.

Are you sure it only stuns for 2 seconds? If that was the case then it wouldn't really work as a setup to coup, since the maneuver has a 3 second RT doesn't it? Yet I've heard a bunch of people mention it as a good setup to coup, and that's why I trained in it (although haven't done it yet since I'm only rank 1).

I meant 2 seconds after your RT. Sorry about that. You literally only have a small window to pull coup off and I would suggest using a script to pull it off if that is your intention on the use of it.
