someone's spot just got blown up...
EWWWW. If this is true I am going to be really mad. I spent over 3m on this yesterday from someone on the amulet and I saw one sell here on the boards a week or two ago for 7. I wasnt trying to scam anyone. Apparently I got scammed?

Basically, yeah. Someone knew they were about to be relatively common again and unloaded theirs for the "normal" price without informing you that they can be purchased for 75k a pop. The market is pretty much done on these things in terms of semi-high end items.

Well, to be fair, you thought you could unload it for 7m but didn't have a second thought of buying it for 3m to do so...
That was not shady though, thats what it was supposed to be worth. I even searched the history of this board and saw one sell for 15m. I was just lookin to make a buck like anyone else. See this post:

Just curious, what was the design on those?

they're different races. Elves, half-krol, aelotoi, etc.

People took forever to clear out for me to price them, I swear.
On the steel cart you see a rotund yellow gold halfling, a stamped silver aelotoi, a burnished blue vultite half-krolvin, a slender green ora erithian, a shiny bronze gnome, an etched imflass giantman, a stout black iron dwarf, a plain hammered steel human and a gaudy faenor-plated elf.
75k a piece, gem cutters, Schvitzie said they won't break.
On the crooked table you see a pie-shaped golden mithglin pattern, a crescent-cut bright silver pattern, a wolf-shaped white gold pattern, a snowflake-cut silvery imflass pattern, a heart-shaped magenta vultite pattern, a tree-shaped emerald ora pattern, a skull-shaped black iron pattern, an oval-cut ruby mithril pattern and a diamond-cut azure steel pattern.
5k a piece.

If this is the same one I saw on the amunet yesterday the MB was only 80k. So if you offered WELL OVER the MB to try to snag it and resell for 7m then it doesn't sound to me like you were scammed. Just that you fail at merchanting.
If that was the case. Too bad its not, LeDru.

Yeah, as has been stated, gemcutters have been rare and pretty much high end since the Dhu. It wasn't until recently that they allowing them to be more common. So they were worth millions maybe a year ago, but now, they aren't worth much over 100k. Anyone can sail to RR right this second and buy millions of them for 75k a pop.
I like the fairy design better then the race designs, and since it comes with a pattern, I will give you 80k for it.

Thats kinda mean now. The merchant is supposed to be gone and that is one of the more rare cutters that you're offering shelf price for.
Merchant said she would be back next month in another town. Someone is more then welcome to bid more on it, the seller is more then welcome to pull the item now.
I put out my offer, I thought it fair.

They all cut gems equally well. You can alter them into whatever you want.

Altering one requires time and energy. Alter scrolls still go for a few million, no?

If you have the patience, it's really not that hard to get an alteration done. If I sold one of my altered 4x runestaffs I doubt it would go for an extra 2 mil. Maybe an extra 100k.

Right. But she offered exactly shelf price for it.

After seeing his merchanting practices, at this point do you think the seller will get much more?

That's because people pay extra to create their OWN alters. That's why alter scrolls go for on average 2m. You're comparing apples and oranges.

Pray tell, what are my merchanting practices? I got ripped off, figured it out and i immediately edited my posting so it was no longer for sale.
Go hang out with LeDru. You two sound just alike.

You can be mad at me all you want, all I said was that I SAW that cutter offered on the amulet for 80k mb. If you paid way too much for it you didn't get ripped off, you just didn't do your homework and see what the CURRENT market value was for it. I understand you want to lash out at someone when you make a mistake but really.....come on.

To be fair, you said IF it was the same one; he said it wasn't the one offered for 80k.
There you have it.
Yeah really, I did not do anything wrong. I'm not even blaming anyone but myself. I tried researching the information before my purchase and my posting. I even proved it. Don't kick a guy when hes down.

Anyway, since when is trying to buy something low in order to sell it for a higher price considered shady merchanting practices? He didn't do anything out of the ordinary. He didn't lie or cheat anyone to get the item cheaply. His only mistake was not checking the calendar and seeing the scheduled merchant like we all did.
I would have seen that too if I had a premium account, I only check the standard calander. We get like one merchant every month or two. lol

I saw alterer mentioned here a few time. I think only like 3 GMs can alter these. So finding an alteration will be harder than you think.

The same goes for the patterns, very few merchants will touch them either.

I'm not trying to kick you or say you have shady practices, just you seem to say the seller ripped you off and it wasn't the seller's fault. Anyway peace man, sorry you lost so much silver.

Feel better about your deal, I just paid 7m or something of the sort for one last week. Oh well, the way the cookie crumbles.
Are the new patterns and cutters still in RR? If so anyone point me in the right direction?
Merchant is gone, said something about coming back next month and to bring muffins made from kittens. Go figure.

More GMs are fiddling with the patterns lately, dunno about the cutters but I do know it's getting easier to alter these. .. Should find one of Auchand's merchants. He can do anything. (Hurray for forehead gems)

Speaking of these, are they still for sale? Would someone mind picking up a set for me? I've got FWI access, so it should be easy. My AIM is GS4Droit.
