Because I own an iPhone and not a Blackberry.

HTC Fuze, windows mobile. Because they have a great API and I'm able to play GS on it.
Blackberry, just because.

Can you actually play on a screen that small or is it just a novelty?

Blackberry, because you don't have to use AT&T with it.

Treo. Honestly, I can't stand either phones, but for different reasons. Blackberry seems to be a cheap imitation that most non-technical people fall for, while iphone is.....an iphone. I don't like apple, never have. Like the blackberry, I find it to be more trendy than anything else.
However, I've been living overseas for the past 2 years. I'm not sure what's new about the latest iphone or blackberry, but from what I've read online, I wouldn't be interested in either.
I do hear very great things about the HTC too.

Go with the Iphone.

I miss my old car battery sized mobile phone.
I watched a rerun of one of the first Sex In the City (hey, the TV was just tuned to that station when it came on and I was too lazy to change it so stfu) episodes and one of the actresses whipped out their cell phone. I swear that fucker was the size of a volkswagon.
I will forever be a victim to my sidekick, just cause there is no other keyboard where I can type 50 words a minute on.
Considering how small that keyboard is, but ever so good.

Your sidekick works? you lie.
I had dinner with some friends tonight and was able to spend some extended time playing with an IPhone.
And.
I would like to retract my earlier statement regarding Blackberry's superiority over the IPhone.
My next phone upgrade will be to an IPhone.
Word.

If you guys who want to convert to a iPhone but don't have AT&T, I would strongly suggest the Samsung Omnia. They just had a huge price drop as well. I feel it blows the iPhone and Storm out of the water.

I'd go with the analog car phone "phone in a bag" model. You can get reinforced canvas straps to carry it, and stickers to decorate the 4' tall antenna.
All trolling aside... I have a shitty samsung. It's worse than today's 'freebie' models. I have no right to participate.
I remember my old analog shoebox phone. Used the same long ass battery as the old vhs camcorders.
It was fo shizzle, my nizzle.

I have friends with both so I've played around with both of them.
I HATE the clicky touchscreen of the BB but like that the big keyboard (the horizontally oriented one) works for everything.
For the iPhone, first off I have to admit I'm biased against Apple. I like the interface except for the fact that you can't use the horizontal keyboard for everything. I like the applications you can add. There are some websites that won't work because of the lack of Java. I dislike the fact that I would be required to use AT&T and it is currently a dealbreaker for me.
I looked at the Google Phone too and the main issue there would be having to use AT&T/Cingular. I like the fact that you can add apps like with the iPhone (they have a version of that song identifier app).
As much as I hate Apple, I'd get an iPhone today if I could use Sprint or ideally Verizon.

For those of you who do have the iPhone, is it worth it to pay the extra $100 for the extra memory?

I think so. It depends on what you're using it for. As a cell phone primarily? Probably don't need the extra memory. I use mine as my iPod. I don't have enough room on it for all of my music.
In college, I used to carry a book of 200 CDs with me wherever I went.
In law school, I carried an iPod and a cell phone everywhere I went.
Now, I just carry my iPhone.
I love technology.

Ok as a follow-on, how much of the memory is taken up by the phone + applications, generally speaking? Like if I only need max 4G for MP3s, would I be ok with the 8 MB iPhone?
Also, can it play WMAs? Most of my stuff is in that format...

I have 400 songs, 6 pages (94 total) applications, 82 photos, 3 movies and currently have about 100 emails in my box (god, I need to clean them out).. and I've yet to use even half of my total memory.
If you are going to use your iPhone for more than that, I would say yes. If not, then save your hundred bucks.

Assuming you mean the 8GB phone, yes.
I'm pretty OCD about my music, so I keep it full.
If you're able to delete things you don't listen to often to make room for new music, then I imagine you'll always be fine with the 8GB.
No idea on the WMA format. I just import CDs to iTunes and put them on my phone. Beyond that, you're outside the scope of my knowledge.

iPhone 3.0 will be released soon (I hope) which addresses many concerns about the current software like not being able to send a pic via a text and copy/pasting between applications.

See, and I am curious, what's wrong with AT&T? I've not once had an issue with their customer service, billing or anything. I love the rollover minutes and am not aware of another company that does the same (not to say none do, but they are not known to me).
I had Sprint before, the service was very good but the customer service and how busy their stores were (due to lack of them or lack of employees) was a pain in the ass. Verizon is large...seemingly popular, but my folks tend to get a lot of headaches from them billing-wise and again their stores are excessively crowded/busy. Also, their coverage is NOT as good as one might wish for, if your phone doesn't have the very best antenna. JMU, on campus, had the worst coverage forever (my brother goes there, not I). Plus, I am very sick of their advertising....barf.
So, what IS the problem several of you have with AT&T? I'm curious since I use them.

For those who want an iPhone but don't want to switch to AT&T, there's an unlock method out for it called yellowsn0w that will let you switch to a different carrier. It's a bit involved, though, and Apple keeps trying to break it.
Personally, I haven't had any problems with AT&T in Boston.

For me it's mainly coverage. Here in the DC area there are blank spots. I live in Arlington which is pretty close in to DC and people who have AT&T don't get decent signals in my condo. People I travel with often complain about low/no signals for their iPhones.
Secondarily, I'd like to use Verizon because it's the only carrier that works on the Metro system without using roaming (some plans cover free roaming though so that's why I'd go with Sprint).
Sprint is my current carrier and I've had them for around 8 years with no problems.

I've been doing some research on different options for a phone for work and the Omnia is one of the highly rated phones on cnet. Anyone else have experience using one of these? The newest BB Curve seems to be liked by most too on cnet. iPhone got a lower rating than both the new Curve and the Omnia on cnet.
Any opinions on what the best business smartphone is?
Former sprint customer for over 6 years. Now with ATT and there's no difference in customer svc. Minimal difference in network quality. Huge difference in phone option availability.

My buddy loved his Curve for work stuff. The only reason he switched to the Storm was to be able to play music too (and the gee-whiz factor).
My other buddy hated the fact that his iPhone had so much trouble with work attachments.
Edit: I can't remember now, it might have been Bold, not Curve.

God, and that's probably my biggest complaint about the iphone. Apple basically tried to force everyone to use email exclusively for this sort of thing. Means that any time someone sends me a picture message, I have to log in to AT&T's crappy picture message website, where there is a 50/50 chance I'll actually get to see the picture. It's a HUGE drawback. Otherwise, I love the iphone, although the keyboard does take some getting used to.

sorry I missed this post...
It's pretty novelty right now, it's a VGA (640x480) display right now, which is no worse than the orignal AOL screen, but I'm working on a more compact version which will truncate useless information (half the game+, sheesh), to at least let me hunt effectively with it. It's quite feasible to make it playable with the screen/keyboard provided by the Fuze...

Maybe I missed it, but did anyone say what one phone can do that the other can't? Or can they both do all the same stuff?
Does it come down to the company your phone plan is with, or just the ergonomics and ease of use?

For me the key features were vga display, gps, qwerty keyboard (with decent sized buttons). The touch screen keyboards just really suck to me... that and you lose all your screen space to the keyboard.

BB actually have the worst time communicating with the cell towers for Verizon Wireless. This is what VW told me when I was having trouble and switched to the Samsung. I don't have the Omnia, I have the i760, which is beastly big. But I love it. Windows Mobile is wonderful comparing it to the BB OS. My opinion of course.
