So I have a PS2 that asks me for the parental level every time. I have tried all of the things on the net and nothing has worked to set my system to level 8.

I have tried hitting select, and am never prompted to "delete stored password". Tried going to setup in the DVD and changing Parental Control, but it is not highlighted and will not let me enter the screen. Any ideas?

No idea.. I just set my PS2 up for the internet and I don't even remember being offered that option.

I would reformat the memory card and reinstall everything again.

What games do you play online? Right now I'm playing Socom II... but as soon as I get good at Madden 04.. I'm going to whip up on Sergey's ass.

That has nothing to do with it Parkbandit. The passwords seem to never save, so I can't get into the Parental Control option because it does not highlight. Thus I can't get into the screen for every worthless "help" I've found on the Internet.

By your post it seems that you are having a problem, not with not knowing the password, but if anyone is curious, the default password is 7444.

To clear the password that has already been set, press SELECT then 7444 when asked for a password. You will then be prompted to set a new password. Make it something easy like 0000. Then go into Custom Setup (the icon looks like a lock with a key hole). Go down to Parental Control. It will probably ask you for a password when you try to modify these settings, so enter 0000 (or whatever password you entered) when prompted. Go down to level, and set it to Off. Then you are done. You can exit the menus and return to playing your DVD.

I've also heard that ejecting a disc after you turn parental control off helps it save, no clue if that's true.

But what I am saying is that I've never even SEEN the screen you would need to set Parential passwords or such. On your memory card is the setup for your PS2 on the internet.. perhaps when you initially set it up, you fucked up something and instructed the computer to ask you for said password. Deleting that initial set up may aleviate the issue all together.

I am a computer idiot.. a complete moron.. but I have had no such issue on my PS2.

The only other thing I can think of is that it has something to do with your ISP.

Good luck man.

Thinking of getting a PS2 to go with my Xbox, does the online stuff cost a monthly subscription like Xbox Live does?

PS2 nice or what? Someone give me the skinny.

Wezas, pressing select when I'm in the screen that prompts does nothing. I deleted the System Config files on my memory cards, and now it seems to be saving a password, so I put in 7444. However, I still can not get into the Parental Control control panel in Custom Setup because it does not turn blue.

Parkbandit, we should hit up a game together in Socom 2. I'm a Captain, user name is Rifle 77 if you want to add me to your list.

Ouch.

I'm Parkbandit and the lowest rank (Ensign I think)

I'm just starting out.. I'll be your superior officer as soon as I get some time to play :)

Yeah...except Captain is as high as it goes. Unless you are a top 10 player in the world, you can't go higher. You are more than welcome to join my Clan, however. Anyone else play? Drop me your User Name and we'll get a private game going.
