Hey retard, I don't care where you are. It's a global economy and if the US goes down, no offense but you are coming with us.

I heard something on the radio today about how the dollar is rising in value and the value of other forms of currency are going down.

So THAT'S where this whole mess started. Who'd have thought Mobile to be the crux of it all.

You know after the Great Depression "Hoovervilles" like this sprouted up around Germany too, providing a little ole radical named Hitler political fodder to rally a country to commit mass genocide and engulf the world in war.

Instead of pointing who-done-it fingers, the greater task at hand is rebuilding and keeping a vigilant watch for threats to come.

All the major nations did a number on each other.

How is it in Great Britain?

Looks like you have some issues there. (http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2009/mar/07/uk-bank-bailouts)
To quote part:

Alistair Darling has already spent almost a fifth of Britain's GDP on bailing out its shattered banking system - more than any other major economy, according to a grave assessment of the world financial crisis published yesterday by the International Monetary Fund.

With G20 finance ministers due to gather in Sussex next Friday for a two-day meeting before the London summit in April, the IMF has totted up the costs of financial bail-outs so far. It calculates that the UK has spent as much as 19.8% of its GDP, topping the table of G20 countries.

The US, where the investment bank Bear Stearns and the insurer AIG have both been rescued with public finds, has spent just 6.8% of its GDP. Only Norway has come close to the UK, spending 13.8%.

And while tent cities may make good photos for newspapers, at least those people have tents.

In NE Ohio we have many homeless that are forced to wander from foreclosed home to cardboard covered grate to abandoned, decaying warehouse. And it is not near 50º F (or better) here, year round. It gets cold and snows much. The local food banks are strapped, with more people coming each week.

I keep wondering when the "breaking point" might be reached, as people today are not the hearty people of the 1920-30's. Look for crime to increase and discontent to grow.

Buy ammunition. Well, if your country allows you to own weapons, like us Yanks do.

I don't get what you mean... I read the link. My point was that since it's a truly a global economy, if the US economy suffers, so will most of the world. I'm not saying because the US rules or anything like that, just it's not only the US going to suffer. I realize the tents were in Sacramento.

And regards Aesir, true. Not sure who he is but I suspect he's related to Warclaidhm.

I moved from Los Angeles to live in Sacramento for a few years. Its the smallest urbanized area I’ve ever lived in but one thing that struck me after living there for just a few months was how many homeless people there were... and I had just come from LA!

When I asked people who had lived there all their lives they told me that at one time in California’s history, I forget the time period, Sacramento offered a $100 check to any homeless person. Guess what. All the homeless people in a 500 mile radius went to collect. From San Fransico, LA, Reno NV probably Las Vegas too, and everywhere in between.

I don’t know what that has to do with the article but there it is.

I'm pretty sure they go poopie in the American River. Oh the irony.

And there were loads of homeless before, it's just gotten a whole lot worse in the last six months or so.
