Ambush RT

Can anyone help explain why I am still ambushing at 6 secs with my longsword?

Giantman with 53 AGIDEX.

Don't longswords have a base RT of 5 and min of 4? I thought once I hit 53 I would get it down to 5 secs:

5 base + 3 ambush -4 adgidex redux = 4
4 min + 1 ambush = 5 secs

What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance for the help!

I don't recall all the RT specifics of ambushing at the moment, but I think there may be a hard minimum of 6 seconds for ambushing with anything more than a dagger or so.

There is a non-reducible +1 RT for ambushing. Just like you'll never make a normal attack with a longsword in less than 5 seconds, you'll never ambush with a longsword in less than 6.

bummer....then what does the min RT of 4 for longswords apply to? I thought it was +1 to the min RT for ambush and +3 to the base RT.....oh well, thanks though!

Min RT is an incorrect term. That number is actually called base speed. Otherwise I believe the formulas on Krakiipedia are correct.

It's a bit confusing. The 4 seconds is the number used for the RT calculation (which you showed in your original post). However, the Min RT is something different--in this case, 5, which is also the Min RT for falchions and handaxes, etc. The fact that a longsword is "faster" than those other weapons only really comes into play for most characters either for TWC, mstrike, or when you start getting encumbered (a handaxe user who's swinging at 8 seconds due to encumbrance will swing at 7 seconds with a longsword).

Search for "edged" on krakiipedia and the chart there has a list of all RTs and Min RTs.
