Just buy a helmet and alter it.

With an alter scroll? How much do those cost usually? I never even thought of doing that.

1-2m give or take for the use of 600 points.

Or find a nice helmet you like (enhancive, scripts, padding, etc) and wait for a merchant to show up. Several show up each month.
