Since I'm too computer illiterate to figure out how to do a poll I'll just ask:
Is anybody else dying to see this?
and
Do you think they fucked it up?

Early reviews aren't too hot. Apparently it's too similar to the comic, which it turns out doesn't translate to a very exciting movie. I don't think they fucked it up, though. The ending's different, but it's being said it doesn't make too big of a difference overall.

I must be too old for the Watchmen, I've never heard of them.

You're too old for a comic that came out in 1986? What are you PBs age?

If it's true to the comic I'll love it then. There's a lot of plot, subplot, counterplot stuff going on that makes it a wonderful read.

Is it a DC comic or something? I honestly have never heard of it, but I mostly collected Marvel comics. I also stopped collecting when I was 16ish, so that's probably it.

It was sort of 'graphic novel mature' DC.
It probably would've been too old for you even though you were collecting as you have a few years on me but not that many.
Target audience would've been teens to 20s in the mid 80s.
I don't expect it to be a faithful adaptation of an Allan Moore graphic novel...they never really do that.
I just hope it's better than V for Vendetta rather than worse than League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.
I'll see it.
It has a 76% aggregate review on Rotten Tomatoes which isn't epic (Iron Man and Dark Knight = much higher) but is far from terrible either.

I've already read it but the ending just doesn't do it for me. I was left with a "meh" feeling.
I'll see it though.

You son of a bitch!
I may or may not be too old for the Watchman.. as I was already in college at that time and lost most of my interest (and ability to pay for them) in collecting comics.

I'm not super excited for it. I don't care for most comics that they make into movies. There's always some disjointed plasticky feel to it. There are just some things that should be left to the imagination IMO. I hope it makes them a lot of money though :) they're one of my favorite comic cos.

ps. I the only comic I make exception for with this rule is if they EVER come out with a Preacher movie. I'll go see it over and over again, most likely.

I love the GN and I've been excited about the movie since day 1, but after seeing some of the clips of the acting and how they used Ozy, I'm not so sure. Plus the whole squid thing.

Sin City has been the best so far.

I'm about as geeked for this movie as I was with waiting month after month, for 11 of them (after the first), for each damned issue.

Even the primary antagonist was true to the comic in Ironman, but let's face it, Ironman was a pretty easy movie I would think. Not a tremendous amount of char development, only one real hero, social and political environment plays into it, Downey Jr. as Stark was casting genious, all good stuff.
Avengers if they make it will be crazy hard to meet expectations, just like X-men was. Everyone has a favorite and if one character is off, it'll be interesting to see how it works out. Seriously... will Vision and Scarlet Witch be in it? Dr. Strange? Ant-man (lol), Hulk, Wasp, Captain America, Thor, Hawkeye, She-hulk? There are like a dozen strong, well developed hero's who could be in it, not to mention Samuel as Fury in SHIELD.
All I know is I love the comic book movies, hasn't been one I really disliked Original Hulk, new Hulk, Ironman, X-men 1-3, Daredevil, Electra was a stretch but I still liked it, Punisher sucked I thought from what they could have done, but I liked it.

I could have lived without the first Hulk, Electra or Punisher. I loved Daredevil (despite Ben Afleck). My point wasn't whether some comic movies are easier than others to meet fans' expectations, only that some have a plastic feel and some don't. ES seems to have made up her mind that they'll fall short of bringing imagination to life on the big screen. I disagree. It's a challenge for sure but one that can be met and I think they get better at it with each new title as they get practice and better techniques.

All I will say is that it is no Dark Knight. It's not bad, not at all. It is rather good. Certainly better than V for Vendetta.
go in expecting what you think of watchmen though. obviously no dark night.

Was expecting something good. And it is good. It is partially written by the Guyver, afterall. The book is just too much to cram in. Will be good when the uber DVD is released (which should include a cartoon of the Pirate of the Black Coast).
Film and graphic novels are two very different mediums. If Moore were meant to do film he would have.

Sorry, I don't think that the title was all that good a graphic novel (not bad and certainly above average) and the movie will have appeal only to a niche crowd or, if they are smart, they release it when nothing is there to compete with it for a couple weeks and it might put up some numbers.
Personally, I'm more excited about Green Lantern coming in a couple years. I'm hoping for an Iron Man sequel, as well.
How pissed are the Judge Dredd fanbois that Stallone made the movie?

Punisher wounded in ways that will forever scar the teenage girl of me who thought Castle with 'tude was hot. They made him more remote on screen and sort of flat for the awesome character he was, for which there should have been a shaming, much pepper spray, and a pillowcase full of cake soap.
But yes, you're correct. I'm biased for print. It seems like when they try to take print to screen, for me, it makes the characters less delightful... too explicit... something I mentioned above.

Watchmen. Really enjoyed it. Visually it was awesome- some shots were as if they had brought the original artwork to life. Rorshack makes the Dark Knight look like a pussy. I thought they preserved the essence of the story too.
I could have lived with less Nixon and less blue sausage though.
Was it as brutally violent as the critics say?

Was it as brutally violent as the critics say?It was as violent as you could expect from the same people who made 300. However the violence isn't constant it's a long movie (2 hours 43 minutes) and much of that time is filled with plot development and story. This isn't your typical super-hero, constant action movie; just like the novel it's based on it has a complicated, multi-layered, dark plot. When there is action, however, it's very, very graphic and violent.
