gathering arrows

WTF i going on when I try to gather arrows and keep getting the message "that arrow is out of reach"?

No live or dead critters in room. Repeat the command about 6 or 7 times and I finally gather - what's up?

this happens when the arrow doesn't stick into the creature you have to wait a few seconds to pick up the arrow and by not sticking into the creature i mean a complete miss that goes straight to the ground, or you hit the creature but doesn't stick in them

That is the annoying ass timer that makes elemental bows worth as much as they are. It simulates distance that you have to cover to retrieve the arrow that you fired at something.
