View Full Version : GoS Sigils Counting Towards Burst in Nelemar?

I haven't done much actual testing of this yet, but does anyone know if GoS sigils count towards Spell Burst?

It seems now that I've done the switch to GoS, I get bursted in Nelemar when before, with CoL signs I was not.

Every spell on me has been the same since before GoS, so I know it's nothing additional and so forth.

Only thing I can do I guess is walk in, and add sigils one by one to see if this is the case. Unless of course, someone else wants to help me test it :)

Alrighty then, maybe my calculations of Spellburst itself are off....Meh!

Show me your magical skills and your spell active. Lets see if we can nail this bitch down, man!

If the formula (MIU + HP + AS)/3 still correctly works, then it must have been a miscalculation on my part

Well, we don't really know if that formula is 100% true, but in the past, that's what people have said it the closest thing.

I think that's about right to a certain extent. However, there are likely some diminishing returns for each of those magical skills beyond a certain point. Maybe 40 ranks?

As for GOS spellburst...I dunno. Maybe someone cast something on you without your realizing it?

Nah, my calculations I think are just messy, I may have known where I went wrong.

According to Krakiipedia (http://www.krakiipedia.org/wiki/Spell_burst), Arcane Symbols and Magic Item Use are the only two skills that help mitigate spell burst.

I also think HP is calculated in there as well, I have 0 MIU and 0 AS and walk in there with spells and don't get bursted.

If HP doesn't count, I'd spell burst every time I went into otf, as I wear roughly 35 outside mana and use HP in the formula.

I believe Mtenda is correct that the formula works until a certain point, and there are diminishing returns, much like how over training for enchanting is. I'll say that most likely that number is over 40 though, as I have 114 magical ranks and according to the formula I can wear 38 outside mana. I usually get close to 38 and have yet to burst.

I should have clarified. I meant 40 ranks ->140 skill bonus for each individual skill not total. Just a theory though. Have not tested it in depth. For example, 40 ranks of AS and 40 ranks of MIU is better than 80 ranks of AS for purposes of spellburst.

Ah yeah. In that case I give it "The Ponzzz Mushroom Stamp of approval."

Hep C is no joke.

Sometimes you have to suck it up and take one for the team.

If you got hit with song of depression from a siren, that will hit you real quick. I know you say you hadn't, but it'll show under your active spells, it counts.

Since we're talking about spellburst I got a quick question. Are those three skills the only thing that helps with spellburst? Or do spell ranks and lores help at all?

Isn't there a weighted equation where inside spells count for less toward spell burst and outside ones count for more, with even higher costs for certain ones (215/618/etc)?

Stunseed

911, 215, 618 are more heavily weighted. I'm not 100% sure, but it seems like 1119 is weighted as well.

Well lets just toss a bunch of things out there to be clear.

(AS + MIU + HP) / 3 = (roughly) Outside mana one can wear. (ex. 503 = 3 mana to a rogue)

All self cast spells (spells known to the user) do not count against spellburst.

Spells that you could learn, but haven't, count as HALF their mana value. Always round up!

While not proven, it feels that their are diminishing returns as you gain more skill.

Some spells seem more heavily weighted, these including: 911, 215, 618 and possibly 1119.

Spell knowledge enhancives act as if the spells is known and will not count against you.

Symbols, signs and sigils do not count against you.

Small statues, orbs, cubes and black crystals (as well as spell 511) do not count against you.

Blue and white crystals do count against you.

Have I missed anything?

You say black crystals don't count against you, if a wizard casts 511, does that count?

No, let me edit.

I think Ponzz explained spells. Lores and mana control skills help with spellburst in the same way as AS, MIU, and HP.
