Sorry if this is out of place in your thread, but what are the mechanical bonuses of being a "Defender" runestaff? Does it provide additional defense over another 3x runestaff?

Same as any defender weapon, the defender bonus is a direct addition to your DS. In addition to any other DS the weapon garners you.

not exactly. Its a 3x runestaff that has an unknown bonus which you can find out by comparing it to another normal 3x runestaff in offensive. Highest I've seen is +7 DS from a defender from the new treasure system. Great for bolting though cause this could be better than a 4x runestaff in offensive. I think you get 1 DS per enchant in offensive so the defender DS is really noticeable compared to a normal runestaff.

The OP should test it. At least compare it to a 4x runestaff and state the difference in DS in offensive from a 4x if you can't find a 3x.

It's probably not a 3x/3x defender. The 3x is the offensive enchant (which in runestaves also adds to DS). It's likely a 3x/1x, where the 1x is the additional 5 DS on top of whatever is garnered from the 3x standard runestaff. It's hard (read: annoying) to determine though, because the actual value isn't given from a loresong. You actually have to test it against a standard 3x staff.

To get the actual bonus you get from the defender yes compare to a 3x. But just to compare to a 4x is good to know how it stacks up to one.

I found a 4x/2x defender runestaff.

The thing with runestaves is for every +5 enchant, they give about +1 DS in offensive stat. Buut with a defender bonus, that goes straight to both offensive or defensive. So a 2x defender is +10 raw DS even in offensive. So if you have a 3x/2x staff, it will be +13 in offensive and would be like a 13x runestaff.

This makes defender runestaves a top priority thing.

Dunno Bru, he says to read the auction better. Yet when I attempted to contact him he was rather hard to communicate with and lagged in responsive answers. First he said he PM'd me, which I never got(but I got everyone elses that day). Then he tells me that he accepted my BO offer, and resends a PM(which I got). Then updates the sale as sold for 2m, which was half my BO offer.

First he's heading to Teras and the weapons lockered away, so I wait till after the weekend, I talk to him today.

Sucks. Sevris seems to be rather clumsy when it comes to things on here.

He placed a bid of 1mil on my spiked arm greaves, and didn't know they were arm greaves apparently, after posting twice in my thread asking if they were spiked.

Granted people make mistakes, you'd figure someone who reads the point to where they are spiked, also sees in front of them the word ARM..

Ah well, now I know he's just another guy not to deal with after this whole Fiasco.
