Monks with weapons?

I believe it was Belnia who said Monks will be squares in the other thread. I don't know Belnia or her credibility, but from her past posts she seems to be someone 'in the know'.
So this got me thinking.

Since I enjoy using my falchion A LOT wouldn't it be great if some of what you could do with the unarmed combat system could be used in conjunction with a weapon. I know that may sound contradictory but it would be cool if combos were tied to weapon use as well as unarmed attacks.

For instance, like kicking over an opponent and then jabbing him in the chest all in one move. Or grappling someone prone and then cutting the jugular.

I honestly would take ANYTHING posted by Belnia with a huge grain of salt. She has yet to even make a worthwhile post about monks. Your ideas, however, are sound, and from what I've seen, are being put into the unarmed combat system. Really cool stuff.

Monks can't have weapons. Not unless they were previously a knight and learned Equip Swords, then they can use swords. That is all my knowledge of monks.

Actually, I take it all back. After watching about 6 hours of hong kong kungfu flicks to kill my agonizing pain and insomnia I want monks to be a pure unarmed profession. We've got too many professions who use weapons, having something different would be cool if done well.

Eh whatever... I just hope and pray they make it fun, whatever, it might end up looking like. And that doesn't mean it has to WTFpwn everything and be so uber leet at least not neccesarily (if you make it so stupidly unviable and slow it'll kill it for most people).

I think what it means more is how many layers does the system have? Is it just: brawl <insert kungfu move>... numbers numbers blah blah then pump out ABC description. Or will there at least have (again hoping and praying) "street fighter IV level of depth", you know instead of half roll with analog joystick and mash buttons A B you have brawl <ABC> brawl <BC> brawl <CCC>. Thats the big question.
