NCAA 09 sucks. EA has broken the series. I hope they fix the serious flaws in 10 because I love me some college football.

Best NCAA game ever:

2007 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007_Fiesta_Bowl)

Boise State Broncos (12-0) ----- 43
Oklahoma Sooners (11-2) -------- 42

What an exciting game that was to watch.

Haven't bought an NCAA game since 06. Campus Legend is similar to Race for the Heisman? I think in the pro games, I like the Be a Star-esque modes better, because you have the freedom to choose which team you play for/how much money you sign for/if you want to force trades, etc. I tend to go dynasty mode in the college games, because it's more fun to recruit and build your program than to play out a 3-4 year career... just to enter dynasty mode.

I always preferred the NCAA games to Madden until 06, then I started buying Madden. The ground game was impossible in NCAA 06, and the CPU torched you through the air every friggin' time.

Madden `06 was the one that changed your mind? Really?

Nah, NCAA 06 was the one that changed my mind. The CPU's passing game is so cheap, it's absurd. If you can't get to the quarterback, the receiver's got three steps on your DBs, and it's a perfect pass. I got Madden 07 instead of NCAA 07, didn't really feel one way or the other about it, but got Madden 08 and thought it was really good. That said, it's been a year or two since I picked up an NCAA game. And considering my standard for comparison dates back to a last-gen console...

I think I might get NCAA for next season. It's entirely possible I was further disillusioned by NCAA football games as a suffering Alabama fan in the merciful dying days of the Mike Shula era.

You know what's really good, though? NHL 09.

Gotta agree that NCAA 06 had an uneven defense compared to previous versions of the game. I disagree that the ground game was impossible though. It was all about shifting blocking assignments on almost every play, or shifting the direction of the play with blocking assignments to actually get the hole and decent downfield blocking. As for the passing game, NCAA 06 had broken QB's that always threw perfect deep balls, so yea, taller faster receivers almost always burned any CB in one on one deep coverage.

NCAA 07 fixed a lot of that, and NCAA 08 was one of the most balanced overall games, although the triple option, if run correctly, is still almost impossible to stop in either game using the top flight option QB's.

The only problem I have with NCAA 09 is the same problem that plagues the Madden series, in that some plays are completely broken and otherwise impossible to cover from base packages, specifically patterns that utilize wide comeback routes and crossing patterns underneath out of the 4 receiver sets.

As for Madden, its all well and good until you go online and play against the asshole that keeps running HB/TE go routes and switches up randy moss to HB/TE all the time. It's also annoying that in every version, there is an outright dominant team. In 07 and 08, every player and their mother used Dallas online.

I totally disagree, how often did you play this game? You couldn't play for more than 2 games and not get teleport intercepted. The deep game was totally broken in favour of the defense in 08. Even post patch it wasn't much better, you still had the teleport interceptions but at least your receivers would get open a bit better. Also near guaranteed sack coverages like the mike blitz out of the 4-3 over with a LB audible were very annoying. Sometimes it felt like the only way to beat the game was with the triple option which was annoyingly broken. I hated that so I ended up settling on a strategy (online) where I would set up to guard the inevitable option and then when they got frustrated and threw it deep I'd let my teleport CBs intercept the ball.

09 is better in many regards, but there are still some broken plays, 4 wr PAs, and some other annoyances, but at least the deep game isn't eliminated out of hand.

The teleport int's across the middle of the field did get annoying, but it did balance out how easy the games normally were to just throw slants and win ezmode. As for throwing deep, if I threw deep into single coverage, more often than not, I could come down with the ball, especially when overshooting the receiver and just making the diving grab forward.

The triple option was generally the best way to go, and has been since they introduced it.

If your opponent was using the nasty blitzes, especially the corner zone blitzes out of the 3-4 or 4-2, run 3 receiver routes and shift blocking towards the rollout, and you got plenty of time to throw, especially if the QB was mobile.

The problem with deep 1 on 1 coverage was until the first patch about 4 months into it you couldn't actually put any air under the ball, they were all eye level lasers. It was interception city.
