View Full Version : Dollhouse
Just watched the first episode of Dollhouse the new series by the Firefly creator Joss Whedon. I have to say... its pretty damn good.
I loved Firefly for its strong characters, genre, and good story telling. While the first episode of Dollhouse lacks in strong character (its only the first episode I know) it really does build an interesting world and tells a gut wrenching story. It starts off slow but once you get to the “mission” of the episode it gets very compelling.
PS. Its on Hulu.

I'll give this show a season just out of <3 for Whedon, the man did Firefly and Dr. Horrible so I trust him.

I'm a Whedon whore ever since firefly. Buffy and Angel, eh.
I'll probably watch it.
Fucking rad, it's on Hulu: http://www.hulu.com/watch/57885/dollhouse-ghost

heh. I just edited my post to mention that it is on Hulu. Sorry.
Whedon obviously has a “femme fatal” thing. But he is also a good storyteller. I was not excited about the seemingly mundane genre but once the mission part kicks in it could lead to all kinds of crazy stuff.

No worries. I'd put the link in your OP though.
I think he's pretty damn good with leading men too. Nathan Fillion as Malcolm Reynolds was fucking rad. It was moreso because Fillion usually plays comical roles and he pulled this dark and seemingly lost captain pretty damn well . . . OR SO HE SAID IN HIS COMMENTARY.

True. Reynolds was hilarious and very strong yet still human and that was the charm of the character.
Damn, I’m going to have to watch Firefly again between waiting for new episodes of Dollhouse.
Firefly is also on Hulu.

I thought the first episode was meh. I hope it gets better.
I liked firefly a lot, I never watched buffy or angel, I really like Dr. Horrible for some reason.. but I thought the 1st dollhouse episode was pretty crappy.

Angel > Buffy. Both are awesome though.
(DISCLAIMER: Opinion given while on Season 6 of Buffy and Season 3 of Angel)

Blasphemer. :(
Have you gotten to Buffy's musical episode yet? Man, I fucking love that cheese. I know pretty much all the words to all the songs.

I loved the musical episode.
I liked Angel, but not nearly as much. The whole St. Cordelia thing worked my nerves. Still, the main villain of the piece being a law firm was pretty funny.

I always like seeing the Wolfram & Hart firm t-shirts around the law school.

I haven't watched Angel that much. I mean sometimes when i'm up really late/really early i'll catch an episode on TNT. I like some of the characters, and some of the storylines i've seen have been okay, I just never really got into it though. And it's never compared to Buffy for me, not even close.
I did like the puppet episode though, it was pretty funny.

c'mon Angel jumped the shark on the puppet episode.

Angel jumped the shark when he left Sunnydale.
The puppet episode was funny though. :D
Second episode is awesome. The plot thickens. The characters get more depth. The mission story is twisted and suspenseful.
I’m warming up to Dushku. I thought she was kinda bland in the first episode. Now? RAWR!

I liked it, it has potential to be a good guilty pleasure. I never watched any of the Whedon shows, but I was sad when Tru Calling got canceled. I hope it doesn't go the way of Tru, Windfall and Skin.

The way things are going, the show has a built in lifespan. Once she learns what's going on or escapes or whatever, the show is over. Which is not a bad thing in and of itself as more shows should have a definite ending planned and not go on till no one cares about it any longer because it sucks.

Watched the first two episodes. I just can't get into it, and actually think it's pretty terrible.
Eliza Dushku is a horrible actress, and she's really not that attractive to me.

Watch NUMB3RS instead. It's handle appropriate.

I know the feeling. I was a huge comic book fan in my youth but can’t get into Heros. Not every show is for everybody.
2:15 to go for episode 3.

Kinda off the topic but did anyone catch Nathan Fillion's new show Castle?
