Not that this appears to be getting much traffic lately, but since I've been advised that my topic may be too specific for a folder labeled "General" Gemstone I have posted this here as well.

Mossy's Training

All right, here I am. After a spot of research and some Q&A, here I am fresh from the character manager.

Please comment, constructively, I'd like to know how viable this is. Runstave route only doesn't leave much room for training outside of magical skills.

Oh, I just realized I skipped phys training by accident. Well, perhaps I'll just wait till after the 4 requisite armor trainings...

I could also use some comments on my stat placement. More guesswork than anything there.... I appreciate any help. Thanks...

Looks okay to me, but I'm not really an expert on Sorcerors. Might wanna rotate phys train and armor to get some blood.. rats can hit you in defensive stance I'd bet.

Thanks Snapp... I might do that. I'm trying to recall as I type, I think phsy train and armor are the same cost? Well, if not, I'll bet armor is more and that's what I trained in initially.

Hopefully others will comment... thanks for your insight.

Makes me wonder however: How much more difficult are the initial years for a sorcerer pursuing a path that includes runestaves?

Hopefully not too much.

TP is a lot cheaper than armor. I wouldn't even bother to get armor at all until you're older. You can wear full leather fine with 0 ranks, and by the time you'd want to put on a set of doubles (6 whole ranks) you'll be more than old enough to fit in the few trainings that you need for it. You also don't need either elemental or spiritual lores. They cost an arm and a leg and have a very minimal effect on spells, and only effect a few at that. I'd suggest .5x in each demon lore, though you can go higher if you want of course. Your doubling spell aim and harness power is a good decision in my opinion as it will give you lots of mana and another attack form should you choose to use it. I'm assuming you're going to use runestaves, which will free up a lot of training points as well.

Here's my training at 85 in case you care

Thanks for your post Syberus. Do you mean that physical training is cheaper than armor? You say.... TP at the start of your post.

Yes, I'm just going to use runestaves. I liked the idea of training in the ele and spir lores because of their effects on some of the spells in the circle. I'm wondering, though, if I might be better off doubling in magic item use or arcane symbols instead.

I must say, it seems rather expensive to train in "mana share" like it used to be - having to train in elemental and spiritual mana control seems alot at a young age. 6 points. I don't think it was that much before although I could be wrong.

Thanks Syberus.

Yea I'm a dumbass I meant PT. A good rule of thumb is to single in MIU, Arcane symbols, Spell aim, Sorc Lore, and Harness power. That will of course leave you a lot of extra training points. What you do with those after you have that base is totally up to you, it's where you get to chose what you want to be good at etc. If you're baseline 1x in all the Sorcerous skills, everything else is whatever you want.

Syberus, you or anyone else able to tell me what extra benefits doubling MIU would get me?

For example, does it help with that new Scroll Infusion spell I know nothing about?

Scroll infusion is mostly based off of Arcane Symbols, though MIU may or may not play a roll. Doubling MIU in my opinion would be a waste of you were expecting it to serve as anything aside from cheap magic ranks per level to raise your DS from your runestaff. If you're looking for a good way to invest your training points, I would highly suggest doubling spell aim, harness power, and trippling spells when you can. The trippling makes your CS higher, and training in the minor circles helps to offset your slightly lower DS due to the runestaff. However if you don't wish to go that route, you could always learn to pick, or steal, or skin, or something.

Interesting, your comments on spell training. I was under the assumption that tripling isn't beneficial like it was once upon a time?

Has that changed or I am just remembering incorrectly?

I'm wondering also how beneficial it might be to double in either necromancy or demonology........ for example with Cloak of Shadows does doubling have a noticeable effect?

That looks like one damn cool spell. :)

cloak of shadows will be incredibly effective after about.. 50 ranks or so in demonology. There hasn't been too much told to us about how these skills will effect our major three spells (725, 730 and 750) However we do know that it takes 50 ranks in demons to be 100% effective summoning valence specific runestones, and 100 ranks to summon demon specific 100% of the time. Doubling in the skill I think is a viable option, but I don't suggest doubling in just one of the two lores. Also it seems my post about trippling in spells didn't go through for some reason, but since they've lowered the cost of it, and since a few of our spells now are dependant on ranks in the spell circle to determine the defensive bonus they provide (102, 120, 430) it's worth trippling to get more ranks in these circles and get more defense from them.

Very interesting. You've been incredibly helpful Syberus.

I think I might start tripling after I get my 4 ranks of armor, and then perhaps alternate between the tripling and phys training... until I max that. What do you think?
