been gone for years and feel completely lost when looking at all the cman skills. I currently have zero points in cman but have a lot of extra point to put somewhere. Already 2.5 stalk/perc/disarm/lock and just curious if there are any viable options in cman which may help me out. Is there a site explaining each skill and the "real" info on what it does. Example does smastery add % to hiding, flat number, lowers rt to hide. Etc.
Thank you in advance for any information.

krakiipedia.org is a good place to read up on stuff if you have been gone for a while.

I would stay away from the cman Multi fire. In my opinion. I would rather aim and get the 1 shot eye crit vs firing 2 to 3 arrows.
You can't aim with Multi Fire.
As a rogue Surge helps reduce your rt with a bow.
Rangers->If you are going to snipe from the shadows. Shadow Mastery with the reduced hiding RT will help. Disarm to prevent your bow from being disarmed. The other Cmans stink for Rangers. Our spells are better than our Cmans.
I heard through the grapevine that if you hold an arrow in your right hand. That will be disarmed before your bow.
Right hand disarmed first, yes.

combat mobility - I am not seeing the light as others talked so great about this. If I am laying on the ground I am either dead, stunned, webbed and therefore wont trigger. Someone mind sheading their insight on this?
Dirtkick - seems useful at almost any level
Surge - dont see the usefulness of this, I already have 509 on me 100% of the time while fighting
Specialization - definately can see some usefulness here, maybe just a bit costly on the 4/5th rank
Shadow Mastery - Carries usefulness for RT reduction. Is that -2 seconds total for sneak IF you have 5 ranks? Anyone know the bonuses to stalking/hiding this gives? for example could I drop to 2x hiding and have the same effect if this is active? versus haveing 2.5 hiding?

No change in having an arrow in hand as opposed to not at the same time as a bow.

AS: +64 vs DS: +634 with AvD: +17 + d100 roll: +12 = -541
A clean miss.

funny thing is, I've got 5 ranks of surge. i use it for utility more than anything else and use it quite often....helps when dragging chars, the swim into nelemar, basically anything that deals with needing to be stronger...it helps
lol I cant believe an arrow hurts your exp absorbtion.

Consider your perception and ambush training carefully when considering your ranged AS:

As a rogue, to echo the comments of others, I've got 5 ranks of surge, smastery, and dirtkick. Beyond that, I'm not sure. The collective wisdom is that multi-fire sucks.

Does mfire "use up" your haste like mstrike does?

Surge, Smastery, Dirtkick?, wspec, mobility, toughness....All great cmans to consider for a Rogue Archer.

I emailed him my training plan since its different then most.
<shrug>
Mobility is a must have, wspec for AS, then all else...I don't hide, so its different.

On this note I have seen somewhere it caps at 2x your level. Currently I have 2.5x perception and didnt know if going to 3x would actually keep increasing my damage every 4 ranks?

Personally I never though that wspec was worth it for the CM point commitment, especially since you don't even get to use the bonus to manuevers with an arrow.

I was guessing that you probably had ambush training, though you didn't mention it.
AS = Dexterity bonus + Ranged Weapons skill + ((Perception ranks - 40)/4 + (Ambushing ranks - 40)/4) + (Bow enchant + Arrow enchant) + kneeling bonus
I'm 2x perception and 2x ambush. At 59, the max number of ranks I can benefit from are 120 from each (2*59+2 for 0th level). That nets me 40 total bonus between the two. From what I understand, I could opt to go 3x perception, 1x ambush and get the same benefit. Personally, I've got a lot of PTP converted to MTP so ambush costs me 8/0 for 2x ranks (the same as 3x ranks in perception) so there was never a reason for me to try it. The way I had seen it phrased was that it was "between the two (perception and ambush)" that you couldn't get benefit from going more than 4x total. Though maybe it's actually that you can't get more than 2x out of either of them individually.
Also, the limit is active before that -40 is applied to the ranks so overall bonus isn't limited, the rank benefit is (you can't over-train to make up for the -40, expecting to get more AS).
Crunching it out for myself (level 59, 4x bow and 4x arrows):
Ranged Weapons.....................| 222 122 122
Ambush.............................| 222 122 122
Perception.........................| 222 122 122
Dexterity (DEX): 100 (40) ... 100 (40)
AS = 40 + 222 + (120 - 40)/4 + (120 - 40)/4 + 20 + 20 + 0 = 342
You nock a whalebone arrow in your ruic composite bow.
You fire a whalebone arrow at a kobold!
AS: +342 vs DS: +24 with AvD: +35 + d100 roll: +63 = +416
... and hit for 130 points of damage!
Strike through eye, the kobold is lobotomized!
The kobold crumples to a heap on the ground and dies.
The scintillating red light surrounding the arrow fades some.
The whalebone arrow sticks in a kobold's left eye!
Roundtime: 6 sec.
That being said, going higher than 2x in perception isn't necessary for locksmithing.
